Never taken it myself, but based on some of the info I looked at it would appear to be one of those medications that may take several days before it reaches its optimal effects.

Being an extended release medication it will release slower into your system than an immediate release, so you most likely will not notice any peaks or valleys with it. Be sure to take it as prescribed by your doctor. Unlike immediate release meds this one needs to be taken at regular intervals instead of on an as needed basis.

There have been past posts about Opana on here. Some of the members who have or are taking it may chime in and/or you can do a search using the search tab found in between the Chat and Members tabs in the 2nd dark green header.

hello, OpanaER is a great med. and if i could afford it that's what my long-acting med. would be. it will take 36-72 hours to build to the effective level in your blood.

Hi Jazzie

Nice to meet you! I have taken opana er 20 mg and opana 5mg for breakthru pain. These meds didnt work for me. Any hydromorphine drug doesnt work for me. But that is just me. It may work for you. Each one of us is different in our own way.

Keep us to up to date on your condition.

I take Opana ER twice a day. it does take a few days to build up in your system. I take 1 in the am and 1 before bed. With it being an extended release sometimes it's hard to tell when it starts working. If you have ever taken Morphine and had good results with it then you will have relief from Opana since it's a stronger Morphine base. Good luck with it, I hope it helpsyou and you feel better soon.
