Hello to all my Fams & Peeps!!
No I ain't dead yet although some of you probably have been wondering since I haven't posted in soooo long!
Things in Peteworld have been all shaken up lately! Mostly cause my oldest son Joe got married bout a week and a 1/2 ago out in Seattle Wash. and of course my better half and myself flew out there for the wedding.
The whole thing was such a surprise! He told us he was serious about this girl and was already planning to bring her out to meet us this summer but then called out of the blue 2 weeks before he was supposed to come and said he was getting married!!!
He said it was just going to be a small civil service and didn't want us to spend so much $$$$$ to fly out there cause they would be here right after the wedding anyway. I told him "Wild horses couldn't keep us away!" My oldest son was getting married, you can bet your sweet petutties I'll be there!!! (bet you haven't heard that one in a while?)
So off we went to meet the new daughter and inlaws> YIKES!! To make a very long story short, it was a long plane ride but the inlaws were wonderfull people, my new daughter (always secretly wanted one!) was as smart and witty as she was beautiful!!! We had a blast> flew out on the 4th of July and went to a really great celibration (Great fireworks on the taxpayers I must say!) on a Army Base that same night! A very long (about 27hrs) day!!!
After a wirlwind 3 days (w/ very little sleep!) in Seattle we flew back to Fla. (can't fly much farther than that in the cont. U.S.!!!) OUCH!!!
Then w/ my Son & new Daughter-in-law staying w/ us for a couple of days before their Bahama Cruise, my nephew (Godson) who is very close to Joe, showed up w/ his girlfriend the same night! Our little house was packed! They wanted to go out in my boat the next day to do some scalloping & fishing. Here on the Nature Coast of Fl. where the water is very clean and clear as aposed to the rest of Fl. there are still scallops and people from all over flock here for Summer scallop season! Basicly you just snorkle around till you see them on the bottom in 5'~8' of water then dive down and grab them!
Unfortunatelly the new Bride fell sick the next morning and so we didn't go out in the boat. I took her to my primary doc who said she had an ear infection and gave her some antibiotics. My nephew and his girl still had Sunday so the next morning I took him and his sweetie out while Joe stayed home nursing his bride!
We had a blast, they caught fish on every cast when we found a school of 4~5lb.bluefish smashing some bait on the way to the scallop grounds! They soon tired as bluefish fight like hell so we headed out scalloping!
We moved around quite a bit looking for them but they were patchy and we didn't get our limmit of scallops, only 4~5 dozen which I insisted they take home w/ them the next day! They said they hadn't had that much fun in a long time and want to come back soon to do it again (They live about 3 hrs away) and of course I can't wait for them to come back! I'm also very close to my nephew who has had a very hard time after a stint in Irac as a Navy Coreman or medic for the Marines! It was hell on earth from what he told me about it.
So they left that afternoon and we enjoyed having the newly weds here for anyother day before their cruise! They took my car and left the next day and my body just fell apart! I don't know how I managed to do everything I did but now I was really paying for it! Out came the cain, the tens machine, the heating pad, the neck brace and everything I could think of to ease the pain that overwelmed me! I knew why I hurt so much but how did I hold it off till they left?? I mean I hurt alot but nothing like this!!!
They came back 5 days later and my new Daughter felt all better! They had a great time and told us all about their trip then asked if I could take them out in my boat before they returned to Seattle?
Of course we can> Oh boy, how am I gonna pull this one off? The next day, lightning & thunder and buckets full of rain, can't go today! Unfortunately the next two days were the same but thats Florida in summer!
Then the last possable day started out w/ blue skys so off we went! I tried to hide the pain I was in! We got out in the boat and Samantha asked me> "Are there sharks out there?" Well Sam, I'm not gonna lie to you but I don't see any around here do you? I fish for sharks all the time out there but didn't tell her that! I said look at all those boats out there off Homosassa, there are probably two to three hundred boats out there on the scallop grounds and I never heard of anyone getting bit by a shark! So we didn't go join the scallop fleet but instead headed out to deeper water to fish since the water was 86 degrees, the fish like to cool down in deeper water!
On our way out we passed over some shallow weed beds surrounded by deeper water, just the kind scallops love! With no boats around I dropped the anchor, put up the "Diver Down flag" and said, I'm going scalloping! I think we may have hit a secret "honey hole"!!! Sure enough, there were scallops everywhere, much more than when we were in the fleet last week! We filled our limmit in no time and the kids had a blast! The only problem we had was when about 3 or 4 ramoras started following me around! Sam got really scared! Ramoras are the fish w/ suction cups on their heads that hitch rides on bigger fish hoping to gets some leftover scraps from the bigger fish!
So where did they come from? Did they hitch a ride over here on some big toothy critter? Then I saw a turtle down sitting in the weeds! I swam down and he didn't seem scared of me so I grabbed hold of him and let him pull me around for a while w/ the ramoras in toe! It was a ton of fun but it was time to go!
So now it was time to go catch some fish! Farther out we went and I rigged some rods for them and told them how to fish the lures I put on there rods. First cast for Samantha how never caught a fish before> Bam, I think I have one! Reel heeem in! In comes a seatrout just shy of being legal and as I'm taking the fish off her lure Joe yells> I'm on! Then he reeled in a larger keeper trout! Wow this looks like a great spot then the most unlikely thing happens!!! A bunch of bees show up and start buzzing Joe up on the front deck! Sam starts freaking out saying he doesn't have his (Eppi Pen?) I think thats what it's called? Joe is highly allergic to bee stings and being out 4 miles in the Gulf and 5 miles up a river to our truck isn't a good place to be! Anyway> What the hell are a bunch of bees doing 4~5 miles out in the Gulf w/ nothing around???? I've never seen any bees way out here before!
So we left the fish biting as I looked twards the shore I could see large thunder clouds building over land! We really better get outa Dodge!
So off we went and by the time we reached the mouth of Crystal River, there were a bunch of other boats on their way to saftey too! Needless to sday, it was a very bumpy boatride in> Just what I didn't need!
Sorry everyone but I gotta git! I didn't think I'd be writting such a long story! I'm gonna miss my Doc apt. if I don't git goin! I'll finnish later Mikey> I promiss!!
Love All Y'all evan if you don't think I do!!!
Your old Buddy>
