It's been a while since I updated or vented. Tonight, I need to do both.

First, I got my prescriptions for my fentanyl patches and oxycodone in the mail last Wednesday as I had called the Friday before and told the receptionist that I needed them refilled. Jerome took the prescriptions over to the pharmacy, and I picked the meds up on Thursday afternoon. I had my last patch on and it was to be changed on Friday, so everything worked out perfect. Thank God.

I learned to call a week before they are due to be refilled and things work out now. That's one big worry and stress off of my shoulders. I was worrying every month if I was going to have to go thru the withdrawls and extreme pain.

Second. I am in so much pain tonight. The doctor has got me down to one oxycodone a day now. I don't know why she has decreased them like this. I was on three a day, when the pm doctor released me over for her to take over the prescribing of my pain meds.

I plan to call the doctor's office tomorrow and see what I can get done about getting her to increase them back to the 3 a day at least. The 5mg don't do much, but they do a little. I can definitely tell a difference when I take the 1 with Tylenol Arthritis or Bayer Back and Body. She doesn't want me to take Tylenol because my liver enzymes are slightly elevated, but are stable. I go back and forth as so I won't get too much Tylenol and hopefully not hurt my stomach with the Bayer (which is aspirin).

I can't wait until we get the air conditioner ordered and get it here. It's not as hot here as a lot of other places, but it is hot and humid and it's really hard with just fans even though we have four of them (2 in the living room and 2 in the bedroom). I am so miserable with all this heat and the bad pain to go with it. I am heat intolerant and I get scared with the patches too. So far, so good. I haven't gotten sick from too much medicine coming out of the patch.

Well, this is really long now. I'll go for now. Take care. I hope everyone is having a low pain night.

love and hugs

Oh Loretta...I am glad that the meds worked out for you. I just experienced not enough pills this past weekend.
I hope your air conditioner comes soon for you. Can you call and check the status of it, like track it.

I admire you for your fortitude and handling of your pain. You are an inspiration to me.

Thanks Betsey. I appreciate your support. I hope your pain is better today.

We haven't ordered the air condititioner yet because we have to wait for the money to come thru the mail. We will probably get the money anywhere between Wednesday and Friday, hopefully.

You take care. I hope you're having a low pain night.

Loretta, something I will pass on to you since I know you are without AC for the moment and using fans. i read an article the other day that said people using fans should freeze gallon plastic bottles with water and once completely frozen place them in front of the blowing fan and it will help cool the air. They suggested using plastic milk jugs. May be worth a try till you get the AC.

Hi Loretta...Thanks for the update...and I am SO glad to hear that you have the medicine issue worked out...let's hope it continues each month this way!!

Sorry to hear that you are having extra pain...That's a great idea about the frozen milk jugs of water! I will have to use that too...My AC is pretty old and with our days reaching up to 100...it's still doing fairly well but in the back room where my bedroom is and where I use my computer...it gets close to 80 so I always use a fan day/night...Doggy appreciates it too! LOL..

I'm glad that you are being very careful with the heat and the patch...I was prescribed the patch way back in the beginning before my 1st sugery...my PCP at the time was so sweet and so caring...she was truly trying to help my pain..but she went from me taking 5mg Percocet maybe 2 or 3 a day to the patch...and the first day I put it on...I took my usual long, hot shower that night and passed out on the floor!...So...she was new to them as well as I so we used my example for her to alert others...

I think it's a great PM medicine...for me now...I just like more control by taking my LA and SA meds when needed...

I am sending you some big hugs.(( ))..I'm hoping that you will give another update today or tomorrow and let us know how you are doing..
