This month my pharamacy got a new shipment of generic Fentanyl patches. I guess the insurance will only pay for the least expensive generics, so this one will be around for a while I am told. The first day is fell off within 24 hrs, the next one a bit less, so out comes the tegaderm to keep them in place. Thats an added expense on my end, not to mention running out early, or stretching out what you have till your next fill.

The name is Mallinckrodt. I called the number on the back of the box to see if they provided tegaderms to cover their product, but unfortunetey they do not as of now. This is a new product for them and has only been made a few months.

The rep did however forward my comments on to the manufacturer. I made sure he knows I work with small children and that if a patch falls off due to poor quality and a little one gets ahold of it that it would certainly not be good. Of course I will cover them and protect my students even if they dont provide the tegaderms.

Anyway, for those who may be using the generic fentanyl made by Mallinckrodt, they will likely be offering tegaderms to cover their products within the next 1-2 months according to the rep. They have had lots of complaints. Just call the number on the box.

Check your email I sent a bit ago. I slept from 2PM yesterday till this morning. When my BP goes crazy like it did the other night, I sometimes sleep for an entire day to recover.

Shell,
When I used the tegaderm patches to cover my fentanyl  patches, I bought them off ebay. I could get boxes of 50 or 100 covers ( tegaderm) for about 10.-15.00 each, far cheaper than I could ever find them at my medical supply houses or drug stores in my area.......

TY Sandi, I have bought them off of Ebay too and they are so much less expensive. Thats even for the name brand and not a knock off. Just bulk packaging. I even bought them to big and cut them in half.

However, I do believe that the company should provide them at no charge for their product if they are have a continuing issue. This new one actually pops off if I rub it wrong. It even migrates up to an 1/2" leaving a sticky mess.

Hi Shell I'm on Fentanyl patches, but I get the Duragesic because Medicaid wants me to have that and not the cheaper Fentanyl. I know. it doesn't make sense. I didn't think to call the number on the box and see if they provide the Tegaderm.

I was buying them on Ebay, but I stopped for some reason. I should check on getting them on there again.

I wish you good luck with keeping the patches on. Take care.

love and hugs
