Hurt my Si Joint in 2008.Yesterday the doc gave me Robaxin.I was up all night tossing and turning..Now I really hurt.
I don't understand why the Doc's out there won't perscribe Soma anymore..I slept.I didn't move and woke up painfree..
When I hurt my SI joint that was the Only thing that helped..

Connie...Welcome to HW...I'm sorry to hear that you are having pain issues...

If you don't mind me asking a few questions..

Is the main issue inflammation with your SI joint? Or a strain?

Are you also on anti-inflammatory medicine to help reduce the swelling? Or going on a Medrol dose pack which are oral steroids? I would think the Dr. would want to do things as well.

For muscle relaxers...There are other choices besides Robaxin...That one actually did great for me when I was on it..But each of us are different. There is Skelaxin or Flexeril that are two others to try if after a few weeks the Robaxin is not helping you.

Is your SI joint pain caused by too much motion or too little? PT is very effective if it's from getting too little movement and getting stiff.

And then there is the Sacroiliac belt that is worn around the hips to help stabalize the SI joints..

And then doing daily yoga and stretching to help ease the pain as well.

Have you had any surgery for this yet? Or is the Dr. still wanting to do other non surgical treatments for now.

It's really like any other pain and finding the best combination of things to help manage the pain as one pill is not meant to take it all away unfortunately...

We are sorry that you found us because of pain...But it's a wonderful place to come and get support, care, concern, and suggestions to speak with your Dr.

I hope that you will come back and keep us posted on your progress..

I hurt my si joint digging out a tree stump..I didn't know what was wrong with me,I had pain in my right pelvic area and sharp stabbing in the right buttocks..I spent 8 months going to Doctors. In bad pain..I couldn't walk,I was hopping allover on one leg..
Before this accident,I was in a dance class, aerobic class,I had sex, could go on long walks with my husband, ride in a car, could spent quality time with my grandaughter. Now After 2 and a half years Its over..My life as it was is over...All I can do is swim...In 2009 I dropped my health plan and got a new one..An MRI was taken and it showed a very bad sacroliac injury.I got myself the Serola belt..Thank goodness..I had stop eating meat..I had to drop 15 pounds..Because when you are overweight u carry it ..And that causes pain...I had to beware of not being constipated..Constipation causes pain..I have been on many drugs for pain..I took skelaxin,And was up with a very bad stomach ache..I took gabapentin and felt like my chest was going to cave in..
I take 2 somas wake up refreshed,go swimming and am fineThats what they were made for.Thankyou for responding to my post..I am kinda tired today..And full of metamuscil from the robaxin!
