Family doc examined my back and right hip since pm clinic wouldnt treat that area only my left leg.  Family doc said that all my vertabtae are very tight except the last one near my tailbone and that is soft.  he gave me 2 scripts..one for muscle relaxant which w/c paid for and one for a syeroid cream which w/c doesnt understand wh
y I need a steroid cream so w/c rep is requesting a copy of my medical record for wednesday.  So now I wait, and wait.  Retail the cream costs $200.00.

My lawyer wants to propose a settlement at a deposition this month.  If I settle then my SSD will go up she said ...have then pay for all my pain meds and total knee, rehab, etc.  Then sue the pants off the manufacturer of luggage conveyor belt and then w/c wont take any of my winnings because we settled.  I never thought about that but that is true w/c would be reimbursed if I dont settle.  I wonder what the amount would be for settlement?

My PT starts back up today.  That is good.

I was up at 4:00am today with pain in my back and  hip Took morning meds and now I wait.

So sorry you are having such high pain levels right now. Maybe the new muscle relaxers will help? I sure hope you can get some relief soon. I also hope that you are offered a fair amount from the belt manufacturer. A quick fair settlement would be a blessing I am sure.

Good luck and take care!

Hi Betsy I sure hope that the muscle relaxer helps your pain It sounds like a good idea to me to settle with them and then sue the pants off the others. That's my advise. You have been batteling with them so long now.

Take care. I hope your pain is less tonight.

Hi Betsey
Gosh i sure hope you can start feeling better soon. It's been a long haul for you.
Do you take something at night for sleeping? Can they try some other medication for pain? Sorry I can't remember what you take for pain? Have you tried Methadone, Fentanyl, Oxycontin, Dilaudid?

Hope you are sleeping right now and not awake like me, LOL.

Take care

Hi Everyone......I am taking a muscle relaxant and yesterday my friend came to my house and massaged my neck and back.  Im sore today from her trying to get the tightness out.  I was up at 5:00 am today but I went to bed at 8:30 pm last night.

Therapy yesterday went ok but I had a high number for pain level.  I am determined to get up the stairs to the second floor today to get a shower,  I really need hot water running over me.  If I have to scoot up the steps on my hinney I will do it.

It is going to rain here in Pennsylvania again and gosh do I ever hurt today.

Im sorry Im complaining so much but I need to vent.  It makes me feel better.  Thanks for your support throughout  my long rehab

Hi Betsy I am sorry that you're in so much pain. I know the rain makes me hurt worse. My heart goes out to you. I hope you were careful trying to get up those stairs. Too bad you don't have a shower downstairs. Tou take care.

Here it is monday...my right hip doesnt hurt hardly at all since I had a back massage. My family doc was right. That the back being very tight it affects the hips. The muscle relaxants are helping my back. W/C still didnt pay for my steroid creme that I was to use on my back and leg.

We arent doing anything today...just taking it easy.

It rained last night and it is misting right now. So, I ache all over. I will make 2 rice socks today.

Everyone have a great labor Day today.

Hi Betsey,

Great to hear that your back massage has settled down your hip pain. Have fun making your rice socks - if you have any, you can also add dried lavender or potpourri to them to make them smell nice, or just scent with a little oil. I have homemade wheat bags here (sewn bags, rather than socks) that I switch between depending on which scent I feel like. One contains lavender heads and I top up with a few drops of lavender oil, one has rose petal potpourri and I top up with rose oil. The third gets eucalyptus oil.

Hi Betsy, I myself am new to HW, but wanted to offer my prayers for your back and hip to calm down. My muscle relaxers are my absolute best friend when nothing else seems to help me out. I'm glad to see that maybe they seem to be helping.

I drove 2 hours north of our house ..left at 5:20 am to go see the knee doc. I arrived on time but they kept me waiting in the cubicle for 1 hour even after I questioned when will I be seen? They got around to taking xrays and 30 minutes later the knee doc came into my room. He examined my leg and kept squeezing it and everytime he did that it hurt real bad.

He scheduled my knee surgery for 10-2-11 and I asked him will the new knee have any nickel in it because im allergic to nickel. He said yes and that he cant do a total knee on me because of that. Then he wanted me to find out from dermatology how allergic I am to nickel and for me to call the manufacturerof the implant if there was any nickel in the knee. I hobbled down the long hall and up the other hall and went into dermatolgy and explained what i needed. I was told that the doctor could log into the system and find out for himself how allergic I am to nickel. The staff will call the manufactuer of the implant to see if any nickel is in the knee. i was told that the patient should never have to do this.

I looked up on the internet the name of the manufactuer of the knee that the knee wants to place in me and the type of knee....there are lawsuits out there for early failure and pain.

At least I found that out so now I have to call other ortho docs closer to home that might not use nickel in the implant.

Sorry it was long but I was disappointed but I will search tomorrow. I have PT tomorrow also.

Hi Betsey I'm sorry you had to do your doctor's job, but I am glad you found out that the knee has nickel in it now, rather than later after the surgery is done and you have reactions to it. I know that you'vee got to be frustrated. Please don't apologize. You can come here any time and rant and rave as long as you want to . Take care.

Hi my family....I got an appointment with a ortho group that is 10 minutes away from my house and they have been established for the last 40 years. My doctor appt is on tue and I got the other ortho dept to place all my xrays on a disc

I am looking forward to my appt but I am worried that w/c wont pay for it . I know I wont be paying on it because it is related to my injury on the job.

Yesterday I was depressed and hurt and today Im pretty much the same. It is still raining here in central PA

To my internet family....here it is saturday and all I wanted to do today was sleep and I finally got up at 1:00pm after going to bed last night at 9:00PM:00pm .  I think my muscle relaxant pill really made me sleep.  My husband couldnt get me awake but when I did get awake my back felt a little better than it did.

Thank you everyone who replied to my beginning thread and you kept checking up on me and that touches my heart.

I have noticed that for 4 nights in a row I woke up in the missle of the night and my left hand hurt and my wedding ring set was so tight ...I pried off the rings and my fingers were swollen.  I went back to sleep and in the afternoon  my fingers werent swollen anymore.  It was wierd...were they puffy with retained fluid?  I have no idea does anybody have an idea? My rings slop around on my finger when they arent puffy.

My disc with my xrays on it arrived by mail today so i hope my new knee doc has compatible equipment to read the xrays.  I am looking forward to meeting him and hopefully he can give me a knee with no nickel in it.

Hi Betsy,

I'm glad you are seeking a second opinion on the surgery. It sounds like the first guy wasn't exactly at the top of his game. Perhaps this other group will have more reputable doctors. I know I have found personaly that undertrained surgeons cause more problems than good.

I hope this new group is the one for you!

All my best.

Hi Betsey I hope that the new doctor will be more helpful than the one that you have been seeing.

I'm glad to hear that your finger went back down. If it continues to swell, I would see your doctor. I hope you;re having a good sleep.
