Yep, wish my head was numb instead of my feets! 1st I had my endoscopy> )sure I didn't spell it right!) on Monday and my doc told me I have precancer crap in my esophogus (anothe mis-spelled word!) I said to him> Hell doc, my whole body is precancerous!!! Thought I could get away w/ it after having it twice> Ha! Other than that, it was all good> no ulcers or gastritus!!!
Back to me feets! For a couple weeks my feets have been going numb while lying down and get worse when I satnd up but only for a couple minutes then slowly goes away! Then just the other day, my left foot went from numbness to excru****ing (s/p!) pain!!! I mean it hurt! I started hitting it w/ a big spoon to help it> yea right? So anyway it scared me pretty good> most things don't! so I called my doc and made an apt for today> Couldn't go yesterday, I'd already planned a fishing trip w/ Captain louie!!! So I splained to the good doc about my hurtin foot and numb feets and asked him what he thought???  Right away he said I think it's related to your lower back problems!!! Of course being one of those peeps who automaticly goes to the internet to look up all the stuff that can be caused by numb & painfull feets I started asking him about gout? No I don't think thats it cause you have no swelling and gout is usually localized in the joints! Hmmm, what about diabetese? No you just had your blood tested. Yes but I was at the higher range> 101 & the top of the range was 100 on the sheet??? No we don't evan start to worry till your at 121!! Great! How about my thyroid, I mean the lack of one> had mine carved out years ago!! Nope, your meds are working fine! Then I asked the doc, how about a clott, what I was most fearful of???!!! Nope> I don't think so cause w/ a clot, the pain would get worse when you started walking!! Not the case w/ me! He said he was glad that I asked so many questions and that I was so concerned about it and called him!! Then he said that he was pretty sure that it was something to due w/ nerve pain associated w/ my lumbar problems and I should talk to my pain doc next time I see him and take it from there???
I must say it's a load off my mind that my wife isn't going to wake up tomorrow morning and I'm not gonna!!! Now I'll just add it to my ever growing list of "broke parts to get fixed" and not worry about it for now!!
So Mikey, we slayed the fish yesterday!!! Redfish, seatrout, spanish mackeral & sharks all on flyrods & topwater lures w/ spinning rods!!! It wasn't evan that hot, overcast most of the day and got totally soaked by a lighningless storm which we didn't outrun in Capt. Louies flats boat! I would a lost that cloud w/ my boat> Ha! The cool rain felt great anyway w/ the only problem being the dreaded wet itch *** on the ride home!!!
All for now, gotta go cook for my Nephew & his Sweetie who are coming up for the weekend for some scalloping & fishing> WAHOO!!! Life is GOOD!!
Love Yuze Gize>
Brother Pete!!
So has anyone had something like this happen to them???

Hey Pete. Sorry to hear about your scope results and that you're having a bad time with your feet right now, though glad that you had a good time yesterday.

It does sound like it could be coming from your back - especially the numbness that turns into searing pain. I had a lot of problems after my last SCS surgery - the doctor broke up a lot of scar tissue, damaged a few nerve roots - and had a lot of extra numbness and pain in my left leg and foot afterwards.

All the best with your pain doc.

Hey ya Pete! So glad to see you are getting some good fishin in...not so glad that your feets are giving you fits! I have some foot pain but not to the extent that you are having so I can't help ya there.

I did want to jump on and say hi though, I was gone for quite awhile and I really missed your fishin tales! Hope you can figure out what's going on with you and get some relief from the extra pain.

Take care buddy.

Hey Pete!! I have really missed you, since I have been gone! Your posts always put a smile on my face! I am so sorry that your feet are giving you problems! I have that problem too, and mine is related to my back problems! Sometimes I get such a cramp in my foot, I want to scream....literally!! I also felt like I had spiders crawling on my legs and feet! Yuck! Gabapentin and cymbalta have helped me. Still get some numbness and pain, but nothing like I used to have! I sure hope your doctor can help you with that....it is miserable!

Very glad to see you have been able to enjoy some fishing and time with family! Wishing you some LPD's and more time for fishing and fun!

Take care of you!

        Hello Petey! smilewinkgrin

Sorry Buddy!...I been under the weather bad here...new meds! shakehead   I'm jealous!...not about all your new health problems.....but the fish you caught! Actually!...I'm happy for you getting to fish and with such success! I hope we fair that well when we come back for a visit this next year! I'm saving my pennies! tongue

It sounds like you did you're research on the foot pain and numbness.....I bet it impressed your Dr!
Hey!....the weather is starting to cool down here! It was 51 degrease this morning! smhair   Too cold for a bike ride that early in the morning for me! Time to pull out the winter jacket and give it a cleaning.

I think I told you, but I have an enlarger prostate gland, and am now on med's to see if that will help empty the bladder better at night. The Dr has me on two new med's, and if the one works, we will try to trim off some of the pain med's. So far the jury is still out on it, and I just had the dose upped, so its going to take some time. I have my fingers crossed though.

Glad to see you posting....and keep that boat in the water if you can. We will never forget fishing with you! It was a highlight of our Florida trip for sure!

       Take care,

I have a friend with chronic back issues (9 surgeries now that I am aware of) and your problem with your feet sounds like something she's described before. Just add it to the old list and keep on fishin'. That's about all you can do, isn't it? :)

Where in FLA are you? I am hoping that my body is about to get to Jacksonville in a couple of weeks...as soon as my wound care doc will let me. Time to visit my brother and the history of St. Augustine.

   Hiya Petey

How goes the battle this week? anything new? I was wondering if you are on any nerve pain meds, like cymbalta, lyrica, gabapentin, which might help your pain since there is some nerve pain??

I sure hope you are having some better days. Is that temp. down there cooling down yet?

Any fishing trips this week? LOL

Just wanted to say hi and see how you are doing.

Love ya
Suz.

Hey Suz, Loretta, Beckey, Ed-A-Home and my Little Skipper! I'm gonna try to answer all your questions> Yes, I have been taking 1800mg a day of Gabapentin for about a year now, it helps get rid of the electric sensation in my cervical region! YES!!! I've been fishing! Had a blast w/ my nephew & his sweetheart! The fishing wasn't too good in the early morning, we caught a couple small trout, lost a couple BIG BLOWUPS on topwater plugs and A.J. (my neph.) had on a pretty big jack creval (around 4~5lbs) that ran around the motor and got off which was ok cause they bleed & crap all over the boat and are no good to eat anyway! We did pretty good w/ the scallops! The Kids caught around 4 dozen. After snorkalling around for an hr. or so I thought we would try something different! I ran two ropes off the stern, one on each corner and towed them around the scallop grounds behind the boat w/ their masks & snorkals on they would let go when they saw one and I would circle around and get them!!! It worked pretty good as long as I watched them and where I was going!!!! Then I went out fishing again yesterday and w/ my friend Moon and we flat slayed them!!! I'm really paying the price today though!! It was a cool morning in the 60's w/ a N.W. wind (our 1st cold front???) then slightly overcast w/ high clouds and low humidity in the 80's> An Awesome day to be alive and out fishing! The seatrout fishing was spectacular, must have caught around 100 or more> I never count how many I catch but it took around 10 short trout, usually 12"~15" to catch a keeper> over 16"!! I'm getting ready to cook up some right now! I also caught a 4' sharpnose shark (good eating size) but didn't mess w/ him, just cut the line, my hands were hurting too bad to clean one of those bad boys!!! Then did some baitfishing (very unlike me but Moon really wanted too, I gennerally just use artificials!) for redfish but kept catching stingrays so went in around 5pm. A long day but well worth it! My feet were completely numb every time I got up to go to the bathroom last night and then this morning but luckily I didn't get any of that aweful pain again!!!
Grouper season opend on the 25th I think and I have a date w/ Capt. Louie so I better take it easy for a while as they are real bruzers to bring in evan w/ heavy tackle!
Thats about all except I think you should go see a Urologist about your prostate Mikey! Just to be safe! Did the doc do a PSA test on you? Do you have a baseline PSA from any past blood tests? Humor me and go see one!!!
I just posted on the Prostate Cancer Forum here on Healing Well like I do every year on my aniversary of my surgery> 8 years clear & cancer free! There were 15 posts in the first hour from guys thanking me for posting and giving them hope!!! Take a look on the P.C. Forum, you'll see it! Lots of guys under 50 but the government says you don't need to be checked till 50! Hogwash as usual!!!
Anyway, I gotta go cook some fillets!
Love You Gize!

You crack me up with your stories.
Yummy fish, I am jealous. I so love to eat fish. That reminds me I must get more of those fish batters mailed to you.

I hope you have a great weekend my friend. Rest well.

Hi Petey I would love some of those fish. Yum!!! Wish we could come down and do some fishing with you. Sounds like you had a lot of fun. I love reading your fishing stories, but I hate that you have to go thru the dang pain that comes afterward. That would scare me getting up in the boat, and your feet being numb. You be careful my friend and don't fall.

You take care and have fun eating those fish. I hope you're having a low pain evening.

love and hugs
Loretta
