Well, it isn't even 2:00 pm yet, and I can honestly say I have had one of the worst days I have experienced in several weeks...or months, whatever.

My back pain has been seeing to it that I can't ever sleep. I had an appointment today at 11:40 am, so I went to bed around 12:00 am. I woke up at 3:00 am from this crap and could not go back to bed.

I was to see my neurosurgeon today. I haven't actually ever seen him, just his PA, and everytime I make an appointment something goes wrong. The 2nd app with him was canceled by the office due to 'personal emergency' on the doctor's behalf. Then, I went to my appointment the next time only to find out that they had incorrectly scheduled me for his other office—which is on the opposite side of the state. :) THEN, my third appointment with him was ALSO canceled by them and they couldn't reschedule me until around 4 weeks later.

I can't take this much longer. Today I was to see the surgeon, and for once they DIDN'T cancel on me. However, as soon as I get ready to leave I find out that our recently 'fixed' car's brakes are out. I had no choice but to cancel and reschedule again for NEXT month. :D

Then, as I sit around both angry and hurt I notice that my cat is acting funny. He has severe flea allergies, and my past vet told me to give him ½ a tablet of benedryl. Well, I gave it to him and became really weird and drooled so I called the vet hospital and they basically told me I'd have to bring him in for them to give me any answers or suggestions—they wouldn't even tell me what to look for in a potential OD or reaction because it was a different vet that prescribed it. Well, obviously, since I have no car I couldn't take him to the vet. He was drooling and crying and I was having a panic attack thinking that I was going to kill my cat. He is doing better now, but I still feel sick beyond words.

I am so depressed, so angry, so anxious, and so very very pained right now. I took my anxiety medication and my Tramadol and I'm trying to relax—but I felt the need to vent on here. Thanks for letting me do so. :)

Hi Misterkatarami ,Sorry to hear your pain is so bad ,its so important you see that dr. for your next appiontment make sure you have a back up plan ,like someone else to drive you or taxi fare, talk to drs receptionist and tell her ,you really need the appointment asap ,it really helps if they know from you just how much you need the appointment and refresh them on the missed appointments also if possible ,if someone else cancels and if your available to be there,on short notice.Iam glad your cats okay, yes they can be pests but are sensitive to your emotions so that could have something to do with its odd behavior also maybe a bit much benedryl perhaps! This is all I can suggest to help.Letting anger get the best of us is never helpful, just causes stress !! try to relax and realize you will get to the next appointment!take care from MICHELE

Unfortunately, I live in a rural area with no public transportation or taxi services. This was just a really bizarre coincidence. We've been having very bad luck lately in both health and finances. We have two cars, but both of them broke down in one day!! So the car that was my back up was dead too! I'm going to ask my neighbor for some help, though I know her car isn't 100% either. lol! (It sucks that the doctor is so far away, which aggravates the transportation problem. I have to drive around 1 1/2 - 2 hours.)

So the next appointment is on the 7th of October. It is just really difficult to wait. I am fortunate to have my father providing for me right now--even though his finances are a mess--because I haven't been able to work since last December. I figured this injury would last a few months, and then I'd be back on my feet...but that is seldom the case it seems! Doctor after doctor, failed treatments, and lots of pain and I still have no real answers---but I'm going to keep at it! If I can't work, and I can't go to school, then I'll just have to focus on getting well instead.

Also, I read up on the cat situation. Apparently benedryl/diphenhydramine has a very bitter taste and more often than not it is actually this taste that causes the cat to drool profusely. The website I was reading said that after 20 minutes or so, the cat should return to normal--and he is. He's playing now and eating so I'm very relieved. I still need to treat his flea allergy though. It's hard when money is tight and I have no transportation to the vet!

Thanks for your reply and help, Sore42long. I hope you're having an ok day--and if not, feel free to vent about it too! lol!

Vent away. I've been a member for a very short time, but am SO thankful for this to be a place of solace to just let go. My family is happier than ever because I don't complain a whole lot. My oldest son called me today (he's living in Florida for now) and said his brother was concerned about me because he could tell I am in pain...but I am not talking about it. I told him that I have an online community of people "just like me" and I am doing great. I can vent, and leave the fam alone.

You do not know how thankful I am for that.
I am unable to come up with a clever signature. I don't even really have a true diagnosis. I am on percocet and robaxin for chronic hand pain. So, in lieu of a dx and all, I'll just say that I am the daughter of an awesome and mighty KING, THE King of Kings and it is only through Him that I am allowed to live each day.

Thanks educ8athome! I feel the same way.

I talk to my family about my problems, because my family members all have their own health issues. So we sorta have patience for that to an extent. However, none of us can truly understand what we're going through on a daily basis so I come on here to vent about all my frustrations instead of yapping away all day to my dad or boyfriend! :P

Plus it helps me to read and comment on other peoples' posts because it really reinforces that I'm not alone and that sometimes other people have issues and can be helped by venting or getting advice too!

Vent away. I try to be very friendly and more than polite when booking appts because its amazing how many appts I have had moved up or changed in my favor. I remember calling into my dr when I was in the area instead of having to book an appt 3-9 days later the receptionist said Hi I remember you can you come right in. Sweet!!!

I hope all the stars line up for your next appt.
Take care
Rose

I'm always super nice to people, but unfortunately they sometimes take advantage of that and walk all over me. So instead of being assertive when they screwed up my appointment time twice, I was just really nice and stuff. lol.

HI,misterkatamari, glad to read your appointment is oct7,I know how you feel I'm going for surgery on monday ,it took 2plus years to figuer out I had thoracic outlet syndrom and all kinds of tests ,different drs ,cortizone injections ,pain meds ect.I too had to stop school ,couldn't work and it just gets worst, its in my right side arm, hand ,elbow ,neck ect ,Ihad to use my left hand for the past year.I also live in a rural area! Ican't even drive my own car,Ican go afew blocks to store at times. I use to work out, swim ,rollerblade and cook ,Iwas over active and outgoing !It changed me to a couch potatoe, yes total opposite of myself,I still have 2months of healing after surgery ,they remove a rib, which is pressing on nevers and blood vessels! Its been so tough at times! I guess alot of the people with chronic pain have to accept it and make the best of it,which is hard but the support here is great,we really understand each other and your so not alone .Take care from MICHELE
