As part of my dissertation research, I will be interviewing people who have recovered from chronic pain in order to understand the recovery process from the perspective of those who have gone through it. I am a doctoral student in the Wright Institute's, Berkeley, California, APA-accredited Psy.D program. It is my hope that by speaking directly to people who have first hand knowledge of recovery, new data regarding treatment might be obtained.

To that end, I am looking for people to participate in my study who would like to share their story and would be willing to talk in detail about the experiences that have contributed to their recovery. Participation would involve a face-to-face interview lasting between 1 and 2 hours as well as a brief survey to make sure that potential participants meet the study's inclusion criteria. The study will be performed with minimal risk to participants and the confidentiality of the participants will be carefully protected.

If you live in, or close to, Los Angeles, CA, have made a substantial recovery from chronic pain, and would be interested in participating in this study, please contact me at 310.903.9420 or StevenKutash@hotmail.com. Your help and time is greatly appreciated.

Warmly,

Steven Kutash, M.A.

Hello, I would be interested to know if anyone has ever recovered from chronic pain.  When you finish your study, could you please post the results, I am very curious as to how people recovered from chronic pain, I have never known anyone who has.

Good luck,

Thank you Chartreux and 9yrschronicpain for your feedback. Kat, I have contacted the research committee at my school to see if there is a protocol for my responses to a public forum regarding my research. Once I hear back from them, I will reply to your questions.

Bantross, thank you, I will be very interested in anyone who has recovered from chronic pain.  I have always thought that the very word Chronic means always, although I think I will look the word up in the dictionary and see what Webster has to say.

I am looking forward to what you and your research commitee have to say on this subject.

Thank you
