I hope that everyone here at the forum has a wonderful Thanksgiving and are able to spend the day with family and friends. I have spent my day cooking the food I will be taking to my sons for tomorrow. The joke at my house is Susie cooks twice a year, Thanksgiving & Christmas, lol. I admit I am not a huge fan of the kitchen any longer, having crohns disease and being so limited on what I can eat, sort of takes the enjoyment of cooking and eating for me. Tomorrow I will throw caution to the wind and eat anything I want to and will pay for it later, but thats ok I do this once a year to treat myself. I just pulled a pecan pie out of the oven, bought fresh pecans from the nut store earlier in the week, it will be awesome.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!!!!

Have a good time, Susie, we either live to eat, or eat to live. Now that Pecan pie sounds good to me, won't be any of that in my house unfortunately.

Wanted to hop in here and wish the same! Happy Thanksgiving to all!

This will be a rough one for me with the way I feel as far as pain goes. I have a 20lb Turkey to smoke all day tomorrow, but have a buddy and my wife there to help me as needed.

Again, I'm sorry for being absent here on the forum…but I'm in misery and am waiting on another appointment on the 6th of Dec to revaluate my CP problems.

Many Thanks to Straydog for her personal support and advice. Again,…have a blessed Holiday!

I hope you had a Great Thanksgiving!  I have had one of the best Turkey Days that I have had in many many years. This year I am in Kentucky with my sister and all my neices and nephews and their families! Much better than the previous holidays the last three or four years, spent alone! I hope everyone had a fantastic Gobble Day with lots of good food, family and friends! Now is the beginning of my favorite time of year, the Christmas season is now upon us!

Thanks and to you too! So Stray...did I hear you say you were going to ship one of those Pecan Pies up north for me??? Sure would be appreciated, ya know! I would even let Cedar and Sophie (Golden retriever and Cocker spaniel) lick the pan when I was done...I promise!

And to our Canadian friends, a very belated Happy Thanksgiving day too. I knew that you celebrated a Thanksgiving but couldn't remember the details so looked it up. Here's something for those who are interesed...

(Copied from Wikipedia)
Significance:A celebration of being thankful for what one has and the bounty of the preceding year.
Date Second Monday in October:
2010 date October 11
2011 date October 10
2012 date October 8
Celebrations:Spending Time with Family, feasting, religious practice

Thanksgiving, or Thanksgiving Day (Canadian French: Jour de l'Action de grâce), occurring on the second Monday in October (since 1957), is an annual Canadian holiday to give thanks at the close of the harvest season.

On Thursday, January 31, 1957, the Canadian Parliament proclaimed:
“ A Day of General Thanksgiving to Almighty God for the bountiful harvest with which Canada has been blessed – to be observed on the 2nd Monday in October. ”

Since 1971, Thanksgiving in Canada has coincided with the observance of Columbus Day in the United States.
