I have a question, I am suffering from something embarrassing and see nothing about it on the list of HW and I know I am not the only one. I can't be. I suffer from severe incontinence. after my son was born in 1992 my bladder partially prolapsed and that started my road to wet pants here and there. By 1999 it was really bad I was 29 and wetting my pants almost all the time. So I had my 1st bladder sling, it was done using pig skin. Within 6 months of having this I sneezed really hard and I heard and felt a "POP" then started incontinence again. Remember I originally hurt my back 1996. In 2001 they found precancerous cells during a Pap test. It was decided that I would under go a partial hyst. and have a new sling done using cadáver skin so in march of 2002 they did the operations. Things ...improved. I didn't have to wear heavy undergarments anymore. But I still had stress incont. just not as bad. I had my last back surgery in 4/07 and within a month or so I was back to like nothing was ever done. :( So again I go under the knife in nov 08. New sling and a new kind of tape to help my uretha be stablized. 8 weeks after surgery this new tape eroded thru my vaginal wall and they also found that one of my ovaries looked cancerous. They went back in again removed the ovaries, no cancer thank goodness, they redid this tape. AND NOTHING.......I am so very tired of this, I think it has to do with my back surgeries messing up my nerves, I can't get a dr to understand, what I am going thru. I'm sick with a severe cold right now, I'm going to be 44 in 10 days and I am wearing diapers like a little old lady and I am really sad about this, Hence why I said I was a born again virgin, who wants to see a woman in a diaper. Sorry this is turned into a poor me post, but thats what I am feeling. Is anyone having any of these problems??? thanks

Hi,

I'm sorry you're having such major troubles with this. Please don't consider it a 'Poor Me' post - I have minor incontinence issues - and I know how embarrassing they can be. Nobody knows why, but as with you I think it is a neuro thing. Mine started when I had my baclofen pump implanted in '08 - after surgery I had altered sensation right up to my groin and couldn't actually feel myself urinating. It's improved over time, until I hurt my back more recently. For me it's also complicated by the fact that I get frequent UTIs.

All I can do is make sure I empty my bladder frequently and wear incontinence pads particularly when I'm tired, which is when I have more leaks. Wish I could be more help *gentle hugs*

I had intended only to lurk today, but found your post and felt the "need" to reply.  I too suffer from this problem.  I had the bladder surgery with the new sling and two months after, I heard the POP and then immediately released urine.  It's been a real problem ever since....especially during the pneumonia I have just been getting over.  I had to go back to wearing the undergarments (especially at night) too. and even in the daytime for several days.  I always have to have some protection!

For a while after my TLIF L5-S1, I had pretty serious fecal incontinentance too and that was a real problem.  I think the nerves have healed somewhat and that problem has mostly resolved itself, but the urinary problem is still there.

I went to a Uro-gynecologist a while back and even went to the pre-op apt to have the problem fixed...but, he gave me a 50/50 chance of improvement (or further damage) and that was simply not good enough!  So now I live with it.  Naturally, the first Dr to do the bladder surgery caused enough additional damage to have a new cystacyle and rectocyle (please excuse spelling).  When it becomes impossible to do otherwise, I will have complete pelvic reconstructive surgery done.

I wish you all the best on this!!  I hope you find some relief!
