I have had a pain on my right side below the ribs for 4 years. Sometimes not bad, sometime worse. If I move by body quickly to turn it feels like a knife poked my. I can push on the area and it does'nt hert. Seems to be alittle better with less pain and soreness when I have a good bowel movement. Expelling gas seems to take some of the pain away. Any thoughts, its getting old. Thanks

AzMike-

Welcome to Healing Well.

Sorry you are dealing with this pain for so long. Have you had any tests done? With the location of the pain and feeling better after passing gas it reminds me of when my gallbladder was acting up at times. I did have pain in my right shoulder blade from time to time though.

Take care,
Bill

Hi AzMike~

And welcome to the forum. Gosh, I wish I had an instant answer to what was causing your pain and then a quick cure but all I can do is share some experience with you. I do understand what you mean about a 'gas bubble' moving around and causing pain. Not sure what else would cause that. I too remember gall bladder pain from many years ago. Shoulder pain comes with it.

One thing I am sure of is you should get to a doctor soon and have him/her investigate the cause of the pain. There's a reasonable chance it's nothing too serious but then again you can't know until you go. Four years is too long a time to wait to investigate that amount of pain.

Please let us know if/when you find out anything,

wow, you sound very similar to me! I've had right side pain just below the ribs for a couple years now off & on...I've had tests and had to go to the ER once it was so bad...When it's bad I can only sleep on my right side and even then it's hard to find a pain free position. It's very frustrating...My father-in-law has suggested it might be a muscle tear, or pull...It just never goes away completely...it gets a little better at times and then returns with a vengence...Please keep in touch, especially if you find any answers for your pain. I'll do the same.I hope you're feeling better soon
