Hello All,

I'm new to this forum and I'm wanting to get into the chat room however I cannot due to the fact it's saying there is a technical issue with the website.  I can see that there are 6 people in the chat room (Chronic Pain) yet I can't get in.  Is there someone who is technically adept who could give me some ideas of how to get in???

Blessings to you all

Lou

       Good Morning MealMaker!

I just wanted to say "Welcome" the the CP forum! It looks like you spend most of your time over on the Fibro board, but you are so welcome here too! wink

If you need any help, you may also email one of the mod's here, and usually we answer back pretty quick.

          Take care,

           SE wink

Hi Screaming Eagle,

Many thanks for your welcome. Unfortunately there are a number of forums I could pop into but I will definitely be spending some time in the Chronic Pain as I do suffer it and would love to get some great tips etc.

One thing you might be able to answer for me is: Are we meant to put what we've been diagnosed with etc at the end of each post? I've noticed many people put their diagnoses, surgeries and the odd quote (love your quote by the way).

Cheers

Lou

     Good morning MealMaker!

Were happy you have decided to spend some time with us! wink The members here will be more than happy to share with, and support you.

As for the Singature line information, you are not required to list your DX's. It is totally up to you. However, it is nice for the members to know what you are being treated for, and any other information you wish to share. If you decide to list some information in the Signature Line, all you have to do is go to your profile page, and add it there. Be aware, that it may take a couple of post for it to be seen, so don't be alarmed if you don't see it listed right away.

Of course!...we would love to get to know you better, so please do tell us something about yourself if you will please! wink   .....just post it right here in this thread that is already started.

Im guessing by your username, you may be a cook? If so....we love to share recipe's from time to time, whenever one of the members starts a post like that for some fun here. Straydog, one of our other moderators will post this from time to time, so when you see it posted, jump right in and share!

Again if you need any help, just click on the email icon next to any Moderators name, and send them a quick note. Here is a list of the Moderators, and can be found in the Moderator list at the top of the home page. Chutz, Straydog, White Beard, CRPSpatient, and of course me!...Screaming Eagle! wink

One more tip for you and I do advise it, is to please read the forum rules first! It may help keep you out of trouble here on the forum. Also!... Please feel free to read the "Chronic Pain 101" listed at the top of our home page....it has some very useful information there.

        Take care, and Enjoy!

Thanks heaps for all your assistance and for introducing the Moderators to me SE. I've organised my signature (took me a while to find my profile) and I appreciate that you've given me instructions on how to do things (obviously you read that I'm technically challenged!!) - I appreciate it!

It seems that I'm going to get asked the question of whether i'm a cook many times - Mealmaker is a distant relatives surname and i thought it might make a useful username. I've read the Forum rules and hopefully I don't forget and do something wrong as I would not like to go against the rules of this wonderful website now that I've found it!! Because i do forget things due to the Fibro, if I'm unsure of something, I will check out the rules before I post.

May I ask for your assistance with another issue? How do I put the icons in and change to bold writing etc? I'm hoping that this might be the final "technical" question I have for you :)

Blessings to you SE

Good morning MealMaker! wink ….oh!…you mean these little guys!?? yeah yeah ….just click on the Emotions of your choice at the end of a sentance…and they should automatically appear. Its quite alright to play around and do some testing on your own if you want. If you make a mistake, you can always delete the post….and if you really get into trouble….one of the mods will be happy to delete the post for you. Were here to help…not beat you with thirty lashes of you make a mistake! tongue tongue

Now!….as far as making Bold words and such…..it may depend if you are running a Mac or a PC. If you are running a …lets say an iMac….then you will have to type in some special codes. I will assume you are running a PC….so Im not going to bother with the iMac codes for now.

After you type your words and or sentances….just highlight whatever you want to change…like bolding…..and simply click the B icon in the character box provided at the top of the body you are typing in.

Like I said feel free to play with it a bit, and if your running a Mac….then I will provide a link with all the special coding for you. I use both iMac's and PC's…so I tend to stay in practice. turn

Please don't feel like you have to worry about the rules….they are really common sense…and if needed you will get a gentle reminder if anything….we are here to help. We have wonderful members here, and they will be more than willing to help you as well…..and the other Mod's …they too will help. We are like a very large family here!….and the more you engage the forum…the more you will feel like part of it. Trust me!….I have met some of my best friends in life right here on this forum. Were all in the same boat as far as suffering constant pain in our lives.

If you are from the Fibro forum…then I imagine you have already met one of my good friends…Sherrine…she is one of the moderators there….and Chutz….she too is a mod there, and the what we like to call the head moderator here.

If you happen to read the Chronic Pain 101…well she (Chutz)…put that together for the members.

OK…back to bed for me!…..me and the puppy needed a bathroom break! LOL

Take care!

Thank you for once again assisting me to navigate my way through this forum SE.  you have been most kind in welcoming me and helping me and I appreciate it so very much smilewinkgrin

As you can see, I found the emoticons - they don't come up on "Quick reply" which is why I couldn't find them.  Whilst it might not seem like it, I'm actually quite an intelligent person but computers can frighten me sometimes.  I've spent all day trying to Sync my contacts list from my Nokia mobile to my new Iphone and it looks like I have to do it manually confused In saying that though, I made a Excel list of all my contacts so was happy I taught myself Excel (I'm a firm believer that we learn something everyday!!).

I've met Chutz on the forum but I don't believe I've met Sherrine.  I wish I had come to this forum when I had more time last year and was bedridden as it would have been a great support for me instead of feeling so isolated confused Good news is that there is the possibility I might be getting a job through my work placement for my Social Work degree - they asked me to interview for it yesterday and they will check my references Monday and if they like them, then it looks like I've got the job.  I'm spending the weekend (apart from trying to figure out my phone) mentally worrying about if I will be well enough for this job, will my health fail and I'll let them down etc etc. Lots to think about idea

I wish you the very best life has to offer smilewinkgrin Lou

…looks like you doing just fine!…and good luck on the job. I work as well…not easy to do with CP…but in some cases it can be done. I have an iphone as well, and of course I'm a iMac fan, but do run PC's as well.

I like your outlook in learning something everyday…keep it up! I had no idea what Chronic Pain was until I found this site…and it was a life saver for me. Again, we have wonderful members here…so stay engaged here on the forum…and I'm sure you will make many new friends here.

I also started a FaceBook page just for HW CP members, and currently we have 16 or so members visiting there…and we are growing quickly. If you wish…let me know…and Laura or I can get you placed in there. We can share a bit more there..like photos…and family…..no rules to speak of…other than we expect members to continue to post here on the forum to support members. It in no way replaces the forum, and the benefits members find here.

Take care,

SE wink

Hi Mealmaker
I wanted to stop by and welcome you. Glad you found us but sorry that you are having so much pain. You will really enjoy the members here. I hope you stick around and post with us.
I see in your signi line you suffer from tmj as I do. I have been suffering with severe constant headaches for the most part of the last twelve years. It's been tough to say the least. What symptoms do you suffer from in regards to your tmj and what treatments or meds have you tried. i have done so many forms of treatments, seen tons of doctors and taken several meds only to find nothing helps. I keep ice on my head all the time.

Well hope we get to chat again. I'll watch for you in the chat room and probably see you on the fb page as well.

Take care,
Suzane

Hi Laura and Suzane,

Laura, please don't apologise for not welcoming me sooner.  I never expected a welcome from anyone and have been quite taken aback by the lovely welcomes I have received :-)

Suzane,  I cannot imagine how difficult life must be for you with the pain from your TMJ.  I remember having severe pelvic pain when pregnant and the only thing that helped was ice to numb the pain (it was there 24/7)!  I occasionally take strong pain killers and use heat on my jaws, I've had cortisone injections in each jaw and steroids and ibuprofen.  I now generally try to use pain management techniques such as relaxation, trying not to speak too much (extremely difficult as i love to chat), I've semi retired from my "lounge-room karaoke" career and I try to eat soft, non chewy foods.  The steorid injections helped and I'm trying to reduce any further damage to them.  I also get the headaches (not as bad as you confused ) and that's when i got to bed and try to sleep away the pain.  I would love to hear how you manage your TMJD if that's ok?

I wish you both all the best with your chronic pain journey :-)

Oops Suzane, forgot to mention that I use a mouth splint (could not live without it) at night to also help with the pain.

Hi Ssinss,  thanks heaps for the welcome.

Hey Lou...

Welcome to the board! Look forward to getting to know you better! I'd write more - but I've got a sick household right now.... but wanted to welcome you.
Hope to see you here and on the FB page.

Take good care! --Tina

Wow Tina, 8 children, I cannot imagine how hectic your life must be but I have no doubt that it is full of much love and ongoing beautiful memories!  Many thx for your welcome, particularly seeing how busy you are.  I hope your 'household' recovers soon from their sickness :-)

I am so sorry that you have too many issues to list sad I feel a bit like that when I have to list mine and then I have to list the surgeries I have had when filling in medical documents!  I wish I had come across this forum when I was spending my days doing nothing in bed and not when I've started working and am busy but I'm still so grateful to have it in my life.  The welcome I have received has been amazing and everyone seems so warm, kind, caring and supportive.  Bless you all!

Cheers  Lou smilewinkgrin
