Hey guys,

Last night I was sleeping on my back and suddenly out of now where I got this shooting electrical pain from my Left collar bone down to my Left upper chest. this happened several more times and it lasts from 1-2 seconds. Is this a pinched nerve?

And NOW (which is tonight) I am getting on/and off the same shooting electrical sensation but only localized in one spot which is my upper left chest but to a much lesser/milder degree, which is kinda scary but not too painful, just noticeable with a bit of discomfort.

Hello HaiHai and welcome to the chronic pain forum. I do hope that you contacted your dr today and explained the type of pain you are having. Jeesh, I really do not know what to think, in some ways it does not sound like a pinched nerve, but then I am not a dr either. I wonder if some time in your sleep you may have rolled over and slept the wrong way or something.

Honestly, I have no idea what this could be but I do hope you have an appt set up with your PCP. Please let us know what your dr has to say about this. Take care.

Yeah, I going to go on sunday, as I want to see my doctor I always see. So you guys don't think its a pinched nerve? Is it heart related?

        Morning HaiHai!
Welcome to our cp forum! wink I read your post, I could very well relate, as I have this same thing happen to me very once in a while. I can be laying down relaxing...surfing the web, watching Tv...and out of no where...Zap it hits! shocked shocked onlu last a split second, and I'm greatful for that, as it is a very hard and harsh that makes you go Ouch!..or at least holler out OH!!!! pain.
It can be very unerving to say the least!...but I have never been able to repeat it, by moving around a little...nor would I want to. I do get up and walk around, thinking that what ever it is....might help by adjusting my body position or activity a little.
Hopefully, it is not something serious....but it may be wise to seek medical attention from your PCD.
No one here is a Dr, so there is no way we can diagnose what may be causing this...but you can be assured...we will listen and support you. The best advice given is to seek medical attention, and have it checked out.
Good luck, and please do update us, on what you find out.

Hello HaiHai~

Nice to meet you. I sure do hope you get a quick and simple answer to your pain. Could it be heart? I know it would cross my mind but the location and how it felt would lead me to guess not. Although it's just a wild guess on my part...I'm not in the medical industry.

Pinched nerve?? IMHO it's likely. I have a pinch in the L5/S1 joint and it sends those kinds of pains down my legs.

That said, if you get pains that concern you again, that you are worried it might be heart related, NEVER HESITATE to call the paramedics, an ambulance or get your fanny to an ER post haste. wink Making a wrong guess isn't a chance you want to take.
