I recently went to a neuro chiropractor who practices functional medicine. After some basic neurological tests he determined I am suffering from an auto immune disorder, possibly caused by toxin exposures( I was a painter for 12 years and was exposed to alot of toxic chemicals) my question is has anyone tried this and does it work or help? I know they push supplements and detoxification medicine, I just don't want to spend a bunch of money on quackery! Although I am in such chronic pain I am looking for any relief...

Bad Heart I hate to say it but it does sound like someone that is pushing a lot of expensive supplements. You know there are actual MD's that specialize in toxic exposures and such. If you are interested in someone like that I really would find myself an MD that specializes in this. You can actually look in the yellow pages under physicians and go to the part where they are listed by specialty and I bet you will find several that practice in this area. Just my opinion. I know some chiro's are real big onto the supplements stuff but it is also very expensive and nothing to backup what they are pushing.

Take care.

This does sound like after some time and money spent, another thing that
really won't careful of supplements you don't need that many,
mostly a good men's or women's multi vitamin, unless you've been tested
to be vitamin B and D deficient, as those are the only ones really worth getting,
and a good omega-3...most in too much vitamin are toxic themselves...that's
why I say be careful...Now if you've been exposed to lead pain in your
years as a painter then yes seek out a specialist like Straydog said, as
that's the best route to go...Many many well wishes to you and do keep us posted as we do care....

I have to agree with the others. If you have any real questions to toxins you may have been exposed to, an Enviormental Specialist (board certified) and get to the bottom of your problems in a way that doesn't just line their billfold.

Good luck.
2000 a minor accident that caused a major hern in my C/5C/6. After neck fusion I did well.2005 was rearended the neck fusion was altered I had to undergo another neck surgery and now had a low back surgery too. 3 years of rehab and I finally went back to work. 2009 exiting a store a driver hit me in a pedestrian walkway. Now w/ low back fusion my LB didn't take the fusion. I have a fried spine.
