Hi Everybody,

I thought I would say hello to all my Healing Well Chronic Pain family. I left Illinois last Friday night and arrive in Honolulu very early Saturday morning (4 Feb) A bunch of us guys that were stationed together in the Air Force Photo Lab back in the late sixties decided to have another reunion, ( we had one in California back in 2006) so now we are having another one here in Hawaii. I am having a great time! It is so nice to be in a warm tropical climate for a change!  I leave this island paradise this coming Saturday afternoon. Anyway I just wanted to say Aloha.

On another note, I have been having allot of problems with my legs, especially  with pain in my upper, top and inner thighs, more on the right than left. A few weeks before I left on my tropical adventure, I had an MRI done. Now I know that my lower back (lumbar spine) is a mess. As they told me that a few time with the last being a year ago. Well they say my entire lubar area, is full of arthritis and bulging disks! Well this last MRI says that I have severe narrowing at the L3/4 foramin area with the right being worse than the left, and significantly worst than what it was a year ago. So my spinal pain magement doctor is going to start steroid injections as soon as I get back, and I am also scheduled to see the neurosurgeon the 23 of Feb.  So we shall see what he recommends. Always something it seem! I know the back and my legs have made my trip quite abit more challenging to say the least.

I wish you all well and will post more when I get back home

Isn't it just beautiful there! I was lucky enough to be stationed on Ford Island for 3yrs while in the Navy. Were you ever stationed in Hawaii or is that just where you picked for the reunion? Have a wonderful time.

I was surprised to see your post about the pain in the upper legs. I have been having the same issues for some time now, makes it hard to get them in or out of the vehicle and stooping is getting bad. I know I have bulging disc at L-2/3 & 3/4 from my last MRI. I will have to go back to my PM soon for a med refill and I figured they would probably tell me it is time for a new MRI. Does your legs and butt bother you while sitting on them?

I screwed something up on my computer and now when I am on healing well my print is small. Not sure how to get it back to normal. Is my print small when you read this????

Aloha Whitebeard!

My step-father and mother are serious Hawaiian enthuisiasts.  They say to make sure to visit the Pononesian Cultural Center if at all possible.  They LOVE it there and take my daughter every year (since I can't go).  She's 12 now and looking forward to going again in May/June for a few weeks.  He's even taking several of the girls from the church to be "companions" for my daughter (hope that works out) :)  They would never get the chance to go otherwise.

I'm sorry for your increased pain.  I have the Lumbar issues too and my butt and legs are driving me crazy.  I think it's all part of this insanity of back problems, but I hope you get better soon!!

Enjoy your vacation my friend!

Jag,

Your type is just fine on our end.  You may want to go to the top of your screen (while on HW) and look for the word View.  Then click on the Zoom and choose the size you want.  If you can't see the word view, then look to the right side of your screen on the top and find the symbol for tools.  Click toolbars and choose the one that allows you to see the words File/Edit/View/Favorites/Tools/Help.  Once you click that one it will put a check mark beside it. If you do the wrong one, just go back and unclick it by clicking again and try the next one.  I always leave that particular toolbar up because you can do so much with it.  I don't know what operating system you are using, but hopefully my directions will help you find what you need.  Depending on your screen size, you may want to choose at least 125% or even 150% (if you have difficulty reading).  I change mine often depending on what I am reading.

Good luck!

Yes Jag this is the first time I have been to Hawaii, of the 22 plus years I had in the Air Force, I spent over ten years of that time overseas, but not one moment in Hawaii,. So this is a real treat, the reason we are having the reunion here is because one of the guys in our group is from Hawaii, and him an I are the only two that made a career out of the military, When he retired he moved back to his home and family, so he and his family live here on the island. Yesterday we went to the Polynesian Cultural Center, for the ful tour and dinner and the show, it was really fantastic, today we are going to the WW II memorial. Time has went by so fast and this saturday I will be flying home.

As for my back and legs, sitting is a real killer, the pain it causes in my lower back and but and then the pain in the upper and inner thighs is really intense. Bending over is really bad and trying to scoop snow no matter how little and light it is causes me allot of pain. I have been fortunate with the flying, I have had isle seats so I can get up easily, and they have a person with a wheel chair greet me at the terminal to take me to my connecting flight. That has been a Godsend, without that I do not think I would have been able to manage the flight over, as I had to go from Illinois to Alanta, and then on to the West and then to Honolulu. It was a round about way of getting here but the price was right! Jag I have bulging disks all through my lumbar spine, alone with severe arthritis, but they said just in the last year it has worsened allot, and that is why my pain management doctor wants me to be looked at by the surgeon. If I do have to have the surgery, I will not have it here at home as, I have nobody here, and I know how bad it was for me when I had my last surgery, it is difficult going through that all alone, and I will not do it again. My sister wants me to come down to Kentucky and have it done if it indeed has to be done. We shall see!

Anyway Jag and RetiredMom I hope you can get your Lumbar issues under control, it is a real pain in the behind isn't it! I know last summer the ortho surgeon said I needed a toltal hip replacement on the right side, as he said it was making my back worse, and the lower back was making my hip worse! So one of them needs to be fixed! But after that last surgery I had with the rods and pins at C-3 it really was difficult and has made me more than a bit leery of having any more cutting done.

Thanks for your replys and caring, it was really good hearing from you Jag!
