Yes Jag this is the first time I have been to Hawaii, of the 22 plus years I had in the Air Force, I spent over ten years of that time overseas, but not one moment in Hawaii,. So this is a real treat, the reason we are having the reunion here is because one of the guys in our group is from Hawaii, and him an I are the only two that made a career out of the military, When he retired he moved back to his home and family, so he and his family live here on the island. Yesterday we went to the Polynesian Cultural Center, for the ful tour and dinner and the show, it was really fantastic, today we are going to the WW II memorial. Time has went by so fast and this saturday I will be flying home.
As for my back and legs, sitting is a real killer, the pain it causes in my lower back and but and then the pain in the upper and inner thighs is really intense. Bending over is really bad and trying to scoop snow no matter how little and light it is causes me allot of pain. I have been fortunate with the flying, I have had isle seats so I can get up easily, and they have a person with a wheel chair greet me at the terminal to take me to my connecting flight. That has been a Godsend, without that I do not think I would have been able to manage the flight over, as I had to go from Illinois to Alanta, and then on to the West and then to Honolulu. It was a round about way of getting here but the price was right! Jag I have bulging disks all through my lumbar spine, alone with severe arthritis, but they said just in the last year it has worsened allot, and that is why my pain management doctor wants me to be looked at by the surgeon. If I do have to have the surgery, I will not have it here at home as, I have nobody here, and I know how bad it was for me when I had my last surgery, it is difficult going through that all alone, and I will not do it again. My sister wants me to come down to Kentucky and have it done if it indeed has to be done. We shall see!
Anyway Jag and RetiredMom I hope you can get your Lumbar issues under control, it is a real pain in the behind isn't it! I know last summer the ortho surgeon said I needed a toltal hip replacement on the right side, as he said it was making my back worse, and the lower back was making my hip worse! So one of them needs to be fixed! But after that last surgery I had with the rods and pins at C-3 it really was difficult and has made me more than a bit leery of having any more cutting done.
Thanks for your replys and caring, it was really good hearing from you Jag!
