Hello CP family!

….Well!…after a little phone tag yesterday….I finally spoke with Betsey Ross by phone…..and WOW!…she sounded great! yeah I even had her laughing a couple of times….but that is not unusual for her. tongue

The surgery started about an hour late, but she said all went well! She is not sure how long she will be there….but when they kick her out…then she will be taken to a rehab center for 7 days….after that she is free to go home and pester her husband once again! rolleyes

At the moment the pain is under control as well as can be expected. She has been out of bed walking…but not much and not very far at this time.

That is pretty much all I know…and I will try to call her again today to check in on her. If things change I will post it her.

…received another call this afternoon from Betsey, and again!….she sounded wonderful!….full of giggles and positive remarks about her surgeon and the surgery itself.

She said the knee will never be able to to straighten out completely…but she is fine with that. I think she said that she will be moved tomorrow to a "Rehab Center"…and will have to endure 5 to 7 days of PT there. After that, it will be home for a while…and then she is already planning a 30day stay or more back down to Florida in her second home. (I believe I could talk myself into a longer stay..LOL)

All in all,….I think she is doing rather well for as much pain she says she is in…while on med's…a 6…but I never heard her complain about it. I asked how the nurses were treating her…and she said wonderful!

We like to hear reports like this here on the forum!…and many patients don't fair so well. I know she was pretty apprehensive leading up to the surgery….and she had everything ready…and checked her list thrice!

I'm just glad she got it done, and that she is in a good mood…laughing and all!

Take care my friend!….and don't worry,….. if my wife and I happen to be in Florida while your there….we will certainly come and visit you! Maybe Pete…or Lindaloo are close to where you live, and you all can get together for a visit.

Take care,

….yes Rose!…both reports are a welcome sight here!….we are so very pleased for the both of you! tongue Let's just hope you both take it easy within reason and not mess the repair work up.

Rose I was in your very shoes two years ago, and understand the hope you have…and wanting to push the walking distance each day. Listen to your body and don't overdo it. It sounds like you both had competent surgeons….and the nursing staff was good as well. What a blessing for you both!turn

Take care, and again be gentle on yourselves!..and we love the encouraging reports…keep them coming if you feel well enough to do so.

I am home

Hubby gave me a dozen red roses and a dozen yellow roses.  They smelled so good.  I have them sitting in the kitchen table.  We ate supper in our home and I loaded the dishwasher and did a load of wash.  washed myself and put on a comfortable nightie.

I didnt have any problems getting into the house.  No pain and I have outpatient therapy starting on monday.  My knee bending machine wull be delivered saturday..

Thank you everyone for praying for me.  I didnt feel alone.  My leg didnt get numb on the underside part .  Anest couldnt hit the right spot to get it entirely numb so it was pain beyound a 12 when I woke up.  They got it under control.

I will keep everyone updated on my progress.

We went out for breakfast at our normal haunt down the strret today. Husband went grocery shopping today and I unloaded it out of the bags. I did a load of wash today. I ironed his race track uniform. It was very wrinkled. I didnt get a thank you for doing that. He never dropped off my scripts so I managed to do that after he left to go to the track and I picked them up to.

I bought a resuable ice pack for my knee. Im waiting for that to freeze.

He has been a grouch today yelling and screaming at me and I told him that I havent been home for 24 hours and Im trying my best to get things done and if that isnt good enough for him he can stick it because I cant stand him screaming anymore today.

Thank goodness he works at the other track on sunday. I wont have to put up with his attitude tomorrow.

My dogs are glad to see me. They bring me joy.

im waiting for my meds to work. Hopefully my knee will feel better

I had a miserable day.

Thanks for allowing me to vent

Hi Betsy. I'm so happy that your surgery went well, although I'm sorry that they couldn't get the underside of your knee numb so that it was hurting so bad. I am glad that they got the pain under control.

I know you're glad that you're home. Take care of yourself, and try not to overdo. We all know what happens when we do that.

I hope you're feeling better tonight.

love and hugs

Good Morning my Family

I slept like a rock last night. When I woke up my knee had a deep gnawing pain. I took meds and managed to get to the powder room.

It took me forever to get myself dressed this morning. We went out for breakfast and when we got back I packed his lunch and sent him to work. i did a load of wash started the dishwasher, called a outpatient lab for hours cause I need blood drawn twice this week for pt times since Im on coumadin.

I go to outpatient therapy this morning. I have to stop at Rite Aid Pharmacy and talk to pharmacy manager about the scripts I picked up on Sunday. Was I charged as if I had medicare? I need to know.

Hi Betsy, I had to re-read your post WOW you sound awesome. I still have not seen my surgeon for follow up so get staples out on Tuesday and they said he will see me then. I hope you continue on improving everyday and of course as you improve try to not over do things.

I just started dishes yesterday and I did a quick sweep and that was it, I also went for a 15 minute walk later in the day. I have however used my vocal ability a few times on my poor hubby who is not keeping things up the way I like them.

Keep on improving Betsy I wish you speedy recovery.

...glad to see you made it home Betsey! wink   Hopefully...the PT will help, and you will suffer much less pain in the future with the new knee. When you headed to Florida? That will be so nice...wish we could get back down there.

I did stop at the pharmacy and found out that on sunday i was given 20% off my scripts. It took me until 11:00 am to leave therapy today. Then I drove to a freestanding lab and they dont do outside lab work. So I drove 3 more miles away and they drew my blood after stabbing me twice.

I am exhausted. I will have brats with onions, green peppers pickeled eggs and french fries.

I need therapy for my knee so my therapist is trying to do stuff on me that I dont do at home.

I slept alot today. Kept a pillow between my knees for comfort.

When I was awake I sewed checkered flags for the speedway.

I cooked beef with onions and green peppers, mashed potatoes, green beans for supper.

Knee aches tonight. I applied reusable ice. to it tonight.

I will take my dogs outside for the night and then go to bed. Husband has a physical scheduled on wednesday to see what is going on with him.

My knee has a deep gnawing pain this morning. I took my meds, if it doesnt get any better I will call ortho doc.

Havent heard anything from family doc yet about my PT time . I havent taken coumadin since friday. The blood draw was on monday. You would think by tuesday I should have heard something on how much coumadin to take. Oh Well!

I will keep posting on this issue.

I called the lab where on monday they drew blood. I left a message. ..I called the ortho doc....no results from lab were ever sent there but I did tell the nurse that I havent had cioumadin since friday and the inside of my left knee had a lot of pain. She told me to take a 325mg aspirin a day. She will talk to my doc about my pain and call me thursday. I want an xray on friday before staple removal.

I could only do 25 min of therapy today and it was $75.00 My tibia and knee hurts so bad tonight.

I hope I can sleep tonight.

My knee is bent but I can go up a curb normally now.I cant use my walker since I get stabbing pain in the palm of my hand up to my ring finger so I switched to a cane. Not enough support.

Here it is thursday night. Knee is killing me. Friday I see ortho doc and get my staples removed thank goodness. Then I have physical therapy 2 hours later. Then i need to go to library to get tax forms.

Husband is getting hyper over doing the taxes himself. i gave him the option of doing it himself or have someone do them for us and pay them for it. No, he didnt want to pay for that.

Tomorrow is our wedding anniversary, 37 years, long years. We will go to a Japanese restaurant and watch the chef cook our meal in front of us.

I hope my pain will be under control on friday so we have a nice celebration of our wedding anniversary.

Soft hugs

Getting the staples removed was awful. They were covered by tissue and horrible pain with every removal. There was 14 of them. I went home for 30 minutes to take more meds and collect my self. Then i drove myself to therapy.

My knee only bent to 75 degrees and straightening was up to 95 on the machine. I did toe tapping, lunches for my knee, stretching exercises.

Awe Betsy I am so sorry about the staples. Mine came out on Tuesday and other than the pinching and scabbing that was on there it was annoying not painful like yours. Good thing you were able to go home first.

How in the heck are you driving already you are amazing. I tried to drive but I guess because it was my back that was the problem I am having a little issue with putting enough pressure on the gas and brake pedals, and speed bumps really hurt.

Sounds like your doing much better than before the surgery, great news.
