Today I had a wonderful appointment with my pm doc today.  In 2009 I first started with these doctors, the doctors had before these were awful.  They made me change from methadone to ms contin 60mg 4xday. They never gave me a reason for changing my meds except to say they did not prescribe methadone.  So I been plotting along not getting the  relief I so badly needed.  Prior to them taking me off of methadone I  had been taking methadone for years with no problems.

Today I asked my doctor if she would prescribe methadone 10mg 3x day.  She gladly did it and advised me that it was much stronger tha  morphine and to be careful.  She also gave oxycodone for bt pain.  I finally faceel "normal" again.  I cut back on the bt meds as I dont need them like I did when I was on morphine.  I wish I had said something back in 2009, but by then I was afraid of asking for anything.  It took me a while to realize that these doctors really cared how I feel.

I could not be happier.

Take care all,
Kathy

Hi Kathy...

I'm so glad that you had a good visit w/ your PM doc today... I remembered you had an appt. today, as I knew it was 1 day before mine....

I really hope these meds are the key to better pain control for you....

Hi Kathy, so glad to read that your appt went great. I will keep my fingers crossed this change will work for you again. It makes all the difference in the world to have a medication that works and a dr willing to prescribe it.

Keep us posted on how you are doing. Take care.....Susie

      Morning kathy! smilewinkgrin

What wonderful news for you! I know that methadone works well for many that suffer with CP, and am glad you are able to have it scripted again....especially if it was working well for you.

I'm thinking that the 10mg is a starting dose....will you need a higher dose after being on it for a while?

....Just as long as it is working well for you is all that matters.....and again, we are thrilled for you!

Congrats, to a life with less pain! yeah

Thanks to all for the wonderfull  response to my great appt.  This is the 3rd time I have tried to respond but the laptop was totally not impressed with my great appt. and therefore kept losing what I was typing.  It seems to be in a better mood today.  but I will keep this short as it is very tempramental and I am trying my best not to heave it out the window.

So thanks to all, cant wait till June wHen Sara gets married and I can afford a brand new laptop.
