 Hi ,
I have 7 fractured (in sept 2011) vertebrae , ligaments all dented and damaged ... mri , copies ...you name it everything involved . I was caught in a Pinch Point at work , and I got myself out of it . Kind of wondering if i made the right chopice sometimes lol . No !!  Truly is a change of life . PAIN ,Meds , pain , constipation , pain,  sleep less nights , PAIN ... constant pain is manageable with plenty of medication . Several tiumes I have tapered of medications just to be sure that i have control . I do ! Yet my control is second in command to this incredible pain . My flare ups  ( like having burning hot tire under a truck ....actually a man lift , parked on my back pinning me and pressing me into the road . Any way .... long story short ...
My GP tells me , he doesnt have the "ability" to sign my papers and instead prescibes me "Cesamet " .. It helps with pain and sleep ... for sure ... But I wake up with a real hangover feeling , when i merely use a "cigarette" , I may extinguish it half way through if i desire ...
I am in Calgary and am not sure who to turn to for help ... in this matter ...

Hi Copperjohnny, do you see a specialist in town? I really like Caleo health because they have doctors, specialists, chiropractors. All under the same roof, my gp referred me and I am glad I went. I like how they work with my gp, the waiting list is long to get in but for me it has been worth it.
Take care

Here is a link to some Pain Management doctors/clinics in Calgary:

You can ask your GP for a referral and/or call them to determine which is more appropriate to your needs.

If your GP hasn't prescribed opioid based meds for you, that is something to address until you get into a pain specialist. You might find them more beneficial than THC-based meds.
C4-T4 Scoliosis (disk degeneration, stenosis, narrowed neuroforamen, bone spurs), RT hip and SI joint damage from car accident. Also, pectus excavatum, supraventricular tacycardia and mitral valve prolapse syndrome.
Current meds: Ultram ER 300mg & 2-3x 10mg Hydrocodone daily. Oxycodone 10mg for BT. .25-.5mg xanax as needed for sleep, Verapamil 240mg SR (for tachycardia).
