Hi guys! I'm new to the site and am always trying to find new healthier, safer, and alternative ways to try to fix me. I have c-5 c-6 , c-6- c7 bulging discs and pinchy nerve issues just recently dx.
with chronic pain for on and off 6 years now.

I'm curious to know if you know something I may not yet.

Also.. how willing would you be to use an alternative idea to try and fix you?

I am doing acupuncture. This guy has been working really hard to try and fix me. and it's cheaper then most.

also Have any of you tried prolotherapy?
it worked really well on my knee. and thinking about going back for my new found dx in my neck.

I have edited out the name of the facility that you listed in your post, please look at the forum rules before posting links. If a member is interested in this you may exchange information via private email. If you have listed your email address in your profile only members can see it. Thanks....Susie

Hi KimmyBean and welcome to the chronic forum. If you will use the search feature here at the forum you should be able to pull up information on various types of things members have tried in an effort to lower their pain levels. I think pretty much any true chronic pain patient knows that medication alone is not the key to reducing their pain levels. It can take a variety of things to help lower the pain, it boils down to what works best for the individual. Pain is a very individual thing, no two are alike. Just like our medications, what works for me may have no effect on your pain.

You asked about prolotheraqpy and yes we have had some try it. One thing we found out is most insurance companies will not pay for it and it can be very expensive for the patient.

I was involved in a car accident in the early 80's and injured my neck. After 3 months of PT I still had limited movement and severe pain. I went to a dr that had been treating my sister for s few years and he did acupuncture. My sister was able to avoid neck surgery for a few years. I had 9 acupuncture treatments and was totally pain free by the end of my treatments. It can work great for some with muscular problems. He had been taught by a Chinese dr and was very successful with some patients. He told me up front if I did not feel any better after the third treatment that it was not going to help me and I appreciated his honesty.

Anyway, I wanted to pop on and tell you hello and welcome aboard. Also, we like for all new members to take a look at the rules that have been put in place by the owner/administrator of the forum. We do not expect everyone to learn them all over night, just become familiar with them. Also, please do not post the name of any medical provider that may be treating you, the administrator prefers we not do that. This type of info can be exchanged via private email.

Take care.....Susie
