Hi all....this is my first time posting here. I had ACDF C6:7 with cadaver bone on March 16th 2012 about 2-3 weeks after surgery I started to feel pretty well. For the last 2 to 3 weeks I have been experiencing pain in my neck and R shoulder and it's not going away if anything it has gotten worse. Difficult sleeping all night, during the day unless I'm taking pain meds (trying to get off these, have been taking since October) I have constant pain. Like other posts' here I feel like all I do is complain about the pain to my family......it's getting old now. I have a follow up with my doctor in a week coincidentally, the same day I am to return to work. Anyone else had the same problems?
Thanks!

Hi Digger and welcome to the chronic pain forum. Wow, you see the dr in another week and you will be released to return to work on that date. Do you feel that you are ready to go back to work? What kind of work do you do, is it light work or heavy work. If you do not feel you are quite ready for work you really need to let the dr know this. Sometimes going back too soon can lead to just more problems.

You know I have read about a lot of people having the same pain you have described after surgery and many have found out it is muscle spasms causing this. Are you by chance taking a muscle relaxer? If not you should consider asking the dr for one. Perhaps between a muscle relaxer and your pain meds you can get the pain level knocked down some.

Anyway, I wanted to pop on and tell you hello and welcome aboard. Please keep us posted on how you are doing...Susie
