Just wanted to update the people I talked to about my feet problems. Orthopedic surgeon looked at the xrays, had me to walk barefoot "OUCH"! and then had me to try to walk on tip toes! Wasnt easy but I made a couple and then he examined further. For some reason he asked me if I had numbness in my feet and I said actually I had some. He rubbed my foot and asked me if I could feel it, I said yes some, then he rubbed my arm and asked compared to that? Nothing alike! I didn't tell him anything about me discussing this with my first Podiatrist about 9yr ago so theyre something to it.
Anyway he said that I need to go to a Neurologist to see whats going on with that and have a CT scan of my feet. He did confirm that I need surgery and that I would always need orthotics. I will see him again after ther Neuro and CT. I didnt time him but I swear it took about 6-8 min talking into his recorder just about my feet problems and he was chatting into pretty fast!
I told him that I would like to hold off till winter before any surgeries because Ive lost too many summers in the past. June 07 broke toe lol, May 08 crushed foot,Aug 09 liver failure, month in hosp. 2010-11 recuperating and broke from that. April-2012 kidney tumor removed.    Thanks for reading!!!!

Hi Worthit, glad you saw the orthopedic yesterday. When you injured your feet was this do to a fall? If this was because of a fall, there is a chance you could have done something to your neck in the fall if you have numbness in your arm. Numbness in the feet could possibly come from your back. Maybe this is why he wants you to see a neurologist. Or he may have something else in mind, guess we will not know until you see the neurologist, just guessing on my part.

Keep us posted.........Susie

I neglected to put in that I had seen a Neuro back in 04 due to a seizure on the job. Test after test and results came back abnormal. I had numbness in fingers, toes, dizziness.I had ins. BC/BS it paid I think 80% for the med.s and at $380+month and no diff. except side effects. Ive only had 3 seizures in my life and thought this might have been brought on by drinking, stress, not eating right and overworking lots of OT. I haven't drank in almost 3 yr. and have been eating healthy diet.
The surgeon wanted this done anyway so will see what goes from there. I have had accidents throughout my life, not sure if they apply. Maybe the new Neuro will be successful but I dont really know if it is a big deal. I know it sounds strange but the numbness in the feet doesn't stop the pain! They feel ok then its like a surge of pain that was built up got released "like a dam breaking"! Thanks Straydog!!!

Worthit I hope the new neuro finds the real problem. I know since my back surgery I am having foot dramas, I have not said anything about it because I am hoping it just goes away. Maybe it's not your feet is what I was hinting at....please keep us informed because we care.
Take care

Thanks Tiina and Rose! I do have real bad feet tho. Dr. was a little surprised I believe at how flat they are. The heels turn out to the sides alot, hammer toe,out toing and bone spurs. Osteo arthrititis was at it's worst it's been in a long time at the Dr.s office "raining" I was hurting from head to my toes! I've made an appointment to my new pcp and I am going to ask him about antiflammitories. My old Dr. said that I couldnt take them because of my liver issues. There has to be something!?!

Worthit, if the dr says no to NSAIDS, ask him about taking Ibuprofen for the inflammation. When I fell and broke my arm, my BT meds did not touch the pain. My neighbor is an RN and he came over to check on me and I told him I was in a lot of pain and my BT meds were not cutting it. He said well, you have a lot of inflammation going on with that arm you need to take something to help that. He went home and came back with a bottle of Ibuprofen and I never took another pain pill. He may say no to it, but its worth asking and if he says ok, ask him how much you can take.

Take care.....Susie

I asked about OTC's at one time and I'm thinking that the Dr. said no to the Ibuprofen also. I'll ask the new Dr. about his opinion on these. I was told that I could take Tylonal but it has Acetaminophen and don't trust taking that either. I have made an appointment with my new pcp on the 19th. I hope he is pain free friendly because I cant take it anymore. I could deal with the pain pretty well when I was younger but day in, day out has broken me and I've had my fill of it! I know theres others on here with alot more pain than I and wish they didn't have theirs! I'm tired of mine alsol. Thanks everyone!!!

He may very well say no to the Ibuprofen because of the liver, its worth asking and trying. I would have not believed it working so well on inflammation had I not tried it, lol. I have Dilaudid for BT pain and it did not touch that arm one bit. That really surprised me. My dr a lot of times will tell a patient to add Tylenol or Ibuprofen to their pain meds before she will increase them, the nurse told me this. Then we also get into what may help me may do nothing for another person too, lol.

I hope your visit goes well with the new PCP. You cannot get a PCP around here to write scripts for pain meds unless its something like a weak Hydrocodone for 10 days or so. The one my husband see's and has seen him nearly 20 yrs cut him off because of the new guidelines and the DEA being involved. My husband was on Darvocet nearly that long, a script lasted him 3 months or more, he only took two at bedtime as needed. They quit making Darvocet and he switched him to Hydrocodone and it did not help him. He went back to the dr and he said this is all I can give you!!!!I knew this was going to happen and tried to warn my husband ahead of time and he would not believe me........Susie
