So here I go this is my first post and I really need help.

For the past 2 months I have been in pain. It all started with my shoulder, back, and neck, I went to my doctor and she said my neck my was tense and contracted, and sent me for an X-Ray which confirmed what she thought cervical lordosis which mean I have no curve in my neck, after that I got sent for an MRI to make sure there was no further damage. Once I got the results I took them to a specialist and he said that I have nerve compression at C7 which is causing the pins and needles in my hand and I have a slight bulge on the disc but that is' not to worry about, I have ALA nerve tablets to take and will be having 10 physio sessions to help. Could anyone give me any other advise to help with the pain.

BUT the things that is bugging me in the constant aches and pains I get all over my body, in my arms and legs mainly it feels like my muscles are bruised, I went to the doctors for this before but got told to do more exercise, which hasn't helped at all. It just aches all the time and is causing me to be really tired as I can't fall asleep so I am just tired all the time. When all this started I was also getting pain in my stomach and getting bad wind and constipation which has since gone, I also got pains in my chest and in my sides (felt like my ribs). I had a panick attack too as everything was just stressing me out and I didn't know what to do as the doctor didn't help at all.
I have read about Fibro ... but I have no clue what to do about these aches and pain and tiredness. Oh and I am nearly 19.

Please give me some help.
Thank you
Missy

Hello Missy! Welcome to the forum, you will find everyone here is fantastic. While I cannot relate to the type of pains you are having, I can relate to chronic pain. I am not sure what ALA nerve tablets are, do they help? Are you on any type of pain medication? If not, you should ask your Dr about this. I wish I had more to tell you, but there will be others that have the type of pain you have that will give you some help. Best of luck to you!
Current: Lumbosacral Spondylolysis, Lumbosacral Neuritis, Arthritis L3-S1, Facet Syndrome, SI Joint Dysfunction, Interstitial Cystitis, Vulvodynia, Restless Leg Syndrome, Bi-polar, IBS, Fibromyalgia, PTSD. On too many medication's to list & have had many surgeries & procedures and I'm only 34.

Hello there :) Thank you for your reply. Well the ALA is alpha lipoic acid which is supposed to keep the nerves etc protected and the specialist said this will help get rid of the pins and needles.
Other than that no, I got told to take Ibuprofen i think it was 600mg twice a day for 8days when the whole neck pain started but it worked so got told to stop.

My neck isn't causing me pain anymore just discomfort. I would just like some advice on my body aches and pains and tiredness.

Thank you

Hello Missy!….and Welcome to the Chronic Pain forum! wink

I'm sorry your suffering, but you came to a great place for support! One of the things your Dr may suggest is "Physical Therapy", and if that does not help…then he may suggest an "Epidural". Either one of these treatments may give you some relief, but then again for some it does little, depending on your condition.

If those do not work, then your choices may be surgery and or pain med's for relief, neither of which anyone of us enjoys, but may be necessary. Just make sure you let your Dr know everything, and be open and honest with him. If for some silly reason he is not willing to work with you in getting your pain reduced to a comfortable level, then you may have to consider finding another Dr for quality treatment.

We wish the best for you, but also welcome you to stay with us here for support. We have an excellent group of members here and I'm sure you will enjoy them.

While your waiting on answers to your questions, you may want to try the "Search" feature, located in the upper righthand corner of this page. Just type in your condition, and hit enter.

Again Welcome, and Enjoy the forum! wink

My Doc only seem concerned about my neck which was my main worry but once all that got sorted all the other aches and pains in my body have started again I can't sleep I am always tired, I find myself going to the toilet alot I get shooting pains in all sorts of places.

I just want to know if anyone who sees this has similar symptoms I would really appreciate it.

Thank you to everyone for your kind words so far, it's nice to be talking to people who have experience with this.

Missy…the only thing I might suggest is a possibility of the "ALA" alpha lipoic acid being a culprit….especially of this started when you started the med. I know little about it, so don't know what the possible side-effects may cause.

When is your next visit with your DR? You certainly want to bring this up with him.

Hello there.

The possible side effects of ALA are skin rashes as they have a very high dosage of vitamins and acid.
But before I had the the neck pain I was getting these body aches, with shooting pains in arms legs i'd get tummy pain, constipation and trapped wind, then when I got the neck pain it sort of took a back seat but it is all slowly coming back now.

I am awaiting confirmation from my health insurance for the physio, but I am thinking about going to see a doctor this week about the aches and tiredness etc coming back as last time she just told me I wasn't active enough and told me stretch and shoved me out of the room ... How helpful.

I also need answers fast as it is getting me down and I go away tuesday next week.

Thank you for your reply :-)

Well…I don't have any answers for you on this, but it may be worth looking at your daily activity and your diet as well. Constipation can be corrected with the correct diet, and a person needs to drink plenty of water each day.

I believe I would look at both, make a few adjustments and see how you feel after the changes.

Sorry I cannot be of more help. Many times Dr do not have the answers either but need a starting place. I think the daily activity is just a starting place, but really the constipation needs corrected too. I might mention that diet by itself may not correct the constipation. Activity such as walking is part of the equation.

I changed my diet a lot after my doctors visit, i stopped drinking coffee, fizzy drinks, junk food, drinking loads more water now and fruit and veg which stopped the constipation.

I am just at a lose end with this body aches and pains, tiredness and just don't know what to do anymore. My doctor sorted my neck which is great because it could get worse.
But now I just want the rest sorted it's been on and off for 2 months now. I have been stressed a lot as there have been a lot of family issues over the past 12 months, so I don't know anymore.

Thank you. :-)

I have started to realize that but as I said I can't figure out why this is happening, I am deff going to keep pestering my Doc until I get answers.

I didn't know which post to put this on as I am new and wasn't sure which section it would come under.

Thank you.

Missy when I first found this forum, I had never heard of the term Chronic Pain, and I was lost to say the least! shakehead I soon found out that support was on e of the best mental therapies I could get anywhere, as most all who do not suffer from this will never understand.

We have a "Survivor Monday" that "momto8kids" (Tina) post each Monday, and is a great way to vent how your past week and or weekend was for you. I invite you to post with the rest of us on it as well.

Also there is a "Chronic Pain 101" listed at the top of our forum home page, and is full of great articles and a few tools for you to use. (Pain Journal, Pain Scale)

It may be worth taking a peek at the Fibro forum too! There are so many possibilities as to your diagnoses, but of course we cannot diagnose here.

Also we have a "Depression Forum" and many of those members deal with stress issues there.

Take care,

Thank you so much for all of that information, you have no idea how it makes me feel like I can get help and advice from people who know or can help with this.

I have been taking it out on my mum a lot and my poor bf just doesn't know what to say anymore. I will check those posts out for sure :)

Once again thank you :-)

LOL! your very welcome! It really is key to stick with a forum like this. You will become frustrated and depressed….but stick with us and make some friends here….it really does a person good. Is your Dr running other test on you yet? Vitamin D levels and such? Check for RA? Fibro? any blood work?

Yes frustrated and depressed is right lol. People on here just seem so nice and helpful it's great.
Nope the only tests I've had was the X-Ray and MRI for my neck, nothing at all for the rest which I think I might ask for atleast a blood test or something as the tiredness and need to pee and drink a lot more might lead to something.

When I read your post the first thought I had was fibro, I too queried that with myself. Here in the UK some doctors take it seriously and some not but I would certainly discuss it with your doctor. I bought a little book from Amazon all about fibromyalgia and it was full of useful tips, may be worth looking for. I hope you get some answers soon. I always think it is easier to cope if you know what you are dealing with.

Hi Jane.

As I didn't get anywhere with the doctor the first time as he was more concerned about my neck I looked around a bit and found out what Fibro, obviously I don't know if this is that I have but it is the closest thing that I could find to the symptoms I have.
Also with living in Spain at the moment I found that with most doctors I have seen unless it's some life threatening illness they don't seem to care -.- But I am trying to see my doctor soon as the pain is getting worse and my days just seem horrible as I have no idea what is wrong.
Also I go to England on tuesday for 3 weeks so doesn't look like i'll get anywhere by then really.

Thank you for your reply :-)

I really feel for you, doctors can be pains sometimes. They don't seem to realize just how hard it is to live in pain especially when you are worried about the cause. One thing I do remember was the importance of 'wet heat' for fibro. I did find that letting hot shower water wash over the area or a hot bath did help me but then I was never really diagnosed. Many in the UK are still reluctant to diagnose fibro. When I did press the doctor he said treatment would be similar as that for chronic pain and nerve pain. Maybe he's right, I am not sure. One thing for sure, heat often helps pain so bring warm clothes to the UK, we are having a pretty awful summer so far and by all accounts summer is to be a washout!! I'll pray it improves for you!! Enjoy your time in England, I do hope you get answers soon. Try not to worry, I know that's easier said than done. Keep in touch.

Best wishes
Jane

Jane.

Thank you for your kind words. Doctors are a real pain, and since the weekend I have been in constant pain again with body aches feels like my muscles are just hurting all the time. I do agree that hot showers are great but they don't last long. I have heat packs but again never lasts long. I just need a doctor to take notice of everything I day, and give me something for the pain, Ibuprofen made hardly any difference.
I will be bringing warm clothes for sure but I prefer the cooler weather the heat just doesn't agree with me.
I will keep this updated. Once again thank you.

Hey there everyone.

So after my Mum called the Hospital this morning they let me go in as an emergency, doctor checked me over then finally got a blood test, which showed I have a viral infection why is causing my "myalgia" muscle pain as the doctor said. So I have been given some pain relief for the muscle pain and got told the infection will eventually leave my system.
So I am guessing my blood count will go back to normal eventually.

I hope this is the end of all this pain

thank you all for your advice I will be staying on this site for sure :-)

That's great news, well you know what I mean!!! Not so good that you have an infection but good that there is a reason for your symptoms. I honestly hope you feel better soon.
