Hi my family We have internet at home now. Our neighbor has WIFI, and she's letting us use her's. We will be paying half of her bill every month. It has worked out very well. Thanks to those of you that replied to my other post about our internet, or the lack there of. I'm so glad we don't have to go out to get on the internet. Everyone take care.

Hi Loretta....

I just wanted to ask though how well you know this neighbor and trust them because if you are using the internet for anything like paying bills online or using passwords to banks, credit cards, or anything that has your personal information....They will be able to see these things if they are not honest people and are tech savvy since you will be using their network.

I certainly don't know a lot about computers but I do know about computer security as my last boyfriend is the head of all computer security for a major University and he has shared things that I need to do to stay safe online. Making sure that my network access is secure is number one. There are actually people who will drive around neighborhoods looking for "open" networks to steal information.

So just throwing out a warning about this because I know you all are looking for a solution to your internet...

Is there a reason why you all can't get the same type of access to wifi that they have now that you know what kind it is?

Thanks for the warning Snowbunny. I know she has it with AT&T and she can be trusted. We don't bank online because we don't have an account.

I don't know a lot about computers either, but Jerome does. I have an antivirus that won't let me go to certain websites that are bad. It says malicious activity or something like that. I also have a firewall. Is there anything else we should know?

Take care. I hope you're having a low pain evening.

As long as you all don't have anything important online like personal information, and don't do any banking or bill paying or things like taxes or anything with the government for disability, etc....you should be ok.

And antivirus and firewalls are good for the "outside" getting in....But someone with whom you share the same network....they have access to your computer. Just like at an office at work. Everyone is on the same network for the bosses to be checking on the employees.

So, as long as you all are comfortable with them and keep all personal details offline it should be fine.
