I am having another day of pain and I am having problems dealing with this. I have chronic pain due to several issues. it is not like I have one issue. I am only 48 years old . It was the cards I was dealt. I realized this. But some days I feel this is enough, but it as we all know that is not very comforting. I went to my doctors appointment a month ago and they suggested a LSO back brace for me. But the warned me to check with me insurance as the cost was $900. I did check as it is covered. However I am wondering if anyone else has had the experience of using this. The P.A. stated it would be benefical for me. I recently had two Medial Branch Blocks done with good results on my spine. The next step is the Radiofrequency Neuro Ablation on my back . I am also wondering if I am going to need a back brace after that procedure.
My issues that are causing the pain is degenerated disc disease of lumbar spine, Bulging disc of lumbar spine with very large herniated disc with nerve dispalcement in L5 S1, Oesoathritis and Fibromyalgia. I have been going to the chriopractor since the age 16 for back pain. So this is no a real new thing for me. It has not been this severe for me before. I am wondering about the back brace because it is alot of money to spend and I want to get some input about how other  have done with it.

Hi Milly, my prior pain mgt dr had me in a very hot & uncomfortable hardshell back brace, lol. At times it did make my back feel better but it was a pain to wear for the reasons I stated above. My current PM dr took me out of it because she said wearing the brace would cause my muscles to become weak. Apparently many other drs feel the same way now as they are either not recommending them to patients or they are taking them out of the braces. When I stop and think about it, I can see why they say this and it makes sense.

I know you have an RF coming up and I sure hope you get relief. Keep in mind this is not a cure for your problem and the nerve endings do grow back. I am curious as to why you have not been referred to a good competent neurosurgeon, especially with the problems you have going on.

Any way I wanted to pop on and tell you what happened with me & my back brace. Take care...Susie
