I am on a PT "break" right now, upon my oncologist's advisement. I spent 25 months in oncology rehab, and was in regular PT for 3 months prior to that. For me, in my situation, the once a week PT session was causing more harm than good, as I would tend to have several bad pain days in a row after each session. It's not that I was being overworked or doing too much, it was just difficult in general.
I miss going, and I had the same therapist the entire time. Where I went, they had a one therapist to one patient ration. The only time I had anyone different was when mine was out on maternity leave, but even then, she use to call and e-mail me weekly to make the substitute was treating me fairly.
She definitely knew me inside and out, and could tell upon her first glance, what kind of pain day I was having just by looking at me.
Hoping at some point, to go back at it again. I see value in both going, and not going.
