Acupuncture doesn't target nerves. It targets meridians, or chi flows.
Each part of the body has corresponding points for stimulation.
As for how many is "normal," I've had very few, like only 15 or 20, but I've more routinely gotten around 40.
There would be some sites on the front, and some on back.
Sometimes current was run through the needs. Sometimes they were heated with moxa. (Moxabustion)
The cupping has been in practice for eons.
Depends on the practitioner, the TYPE of acupuncture being done, (they're not all the same), as to where they'll put the needles, and how many.
So I wouldn't say that many is absurd at all. I've seen more. Again, depends on the patient and the practice.
I enjoyed it, it doesn't hurt, and I could often guide her if she was having trouble getting the spot. I was very calm, no flinching or jumpies.
I liked the experience.
