Linds, too bad there are all these delays in what should be a simple switch. Yes, when the patches reach the end of their usefulness, the pain fighting ability goes right out the window. That is why my dr. quickly changed me from every 3 days to every 2 days, a pattern developed - that on every 3 days, I was having a severe cp day. In my case, the every 2 day switch made a huge difference.
At this point, I would be too scared to imagine if I ran out for any reason, or had a holiday or something keep me from refilling on time. One reason that I choose to make a 60 mile round trip now every month to pick up my fentanyl script in person, instead of them mailing it to me. Had a couple of episode where it didn't get mailed in time. When I get there, I open up the envelope and read the script closely to make sure there aren't any mistakes on it. In the past, they had the wrong year a couple of times.
We do what we have to do, to make sure we have as few as problems as possible.
I hope you get through this ok, and you can quickly get back on your patches.
