I love Pistachio Salad!!! mmmmm good! I am going to my sisters for Turke Day, I am bringing my Pecan Brittle, and bread giblet turkey dressing, nobody in my sisters family makes it, and I am having a heck of a time finding Turkey necks, Krogers said they would order me some and it will be here Tuesday morning. I always make my broth and by boiling the giblets and necks and celery and onions together, then I take all the meat off the necks, ( that is a time consuming chore but the meat is worth it) and use the meat in the bread dressing! Anyway my sister told me if I wanted that type of dressing I would have to make it myself! I am used to doing that as I have made it every year for many many years LOL!!!
One tradition that I have, that I have carried on from my childhood, when growing up we always had steaks by candle light Christmas Eve, I have carried on with that tradition, but instead of T-bone steaks (that is what my parents always had cooked inside) I fix Rib-Eye steaks cooked out on the grill, no matter what the weather is. When I was stationed up near Fairbanks Alaska, I had to keep the propane tank in the house, and I had a long hose, to the grill, and I cooked the steaks on the grill at 30 below. ( Propane does not work well when it is extremely cold so you have to keep the tank warm to get it to work) Anyway I turn off all the lights except the Christmas tree and other decorations and serve the steaks by candle light, with fried mushrooms and onions, and baked potato, and a salad. This year my sister and her husband are coming to my house for Christmas Eve.
