Hi, I have just joined this group this week, and I am amazed at the great information here. I have had two spinal fusions, (2004, 2005) and have just found that they are now un-fused, and am looking at a pretty big surgery (at least it seems big to me...) :(
I notice when driving myself, it is SO HARD to turn my head to safely navigate, back out from a parking spot, and look quickly around.
It is also very painful when driving, or being driven for that matter, when I go over bumpy roads, potholes, or anything except smoooooth highways.
Does this hamper fusion afterwards, in other words, should you cease driving or being driven for the post-op period (if so, how long?)
We have a small vacation place, and to get there means a 5 hour road trip, alot of which is over VERY bad roads. I realize that I am jumping ahead, but I am just trying to plan, and to know what to ask the surgeon.
