My baby is getting married! Now the panic, she plans for justice of the peace type wedding until they can get a big one planned. Not sure how family will react to this part, might be a quick get grandparents together and have a small celebration in Dallas...Gotta contact my brothers, whom I'm not close to, to see if they'll fly grandparent into Dallas for the small celebration....
Good news bad new...all heck is gonna break out, maybe...

Congrats! We've had a couple of JP weddings in our family with only parents present followed months later by a more relaxed party for everyone. Hope it all works out. Abilene

Chartreux, it's always Special when each our children get married and give birth. But, when it's the baby, it's just a little different.

She's is my only child and we did cnvince her the engagement is good for now as we want to get her dress, need the mother daughter dress experience! Then a small wedding. So, this is better than a justice of the peace and will turn out nicer. Anyone know of a place like "vows" that has good dressess for a low price?
Will take it from her and I have fingers crossed for everything to work out good.

Chartreux, I'm sorry I misunderstood. My "baby" got married in 2009 & they are expecting their second child in Oct. So when you said "baby" I remembered her wedding. All of my kids wedding were special. But, when it was my baby, there was just something extra special.

Chart my youngest daughter had a really big wedding and after it was all over with my oldest daughter said there was no way she was ever going to go through that! Well a couple of years later all the kids came home for Christmas my youngest and her husband and my oldest and what we thought was her boy friend, we found out at our Christmas Eve dinner that a few days before that my oldest daughter and boy friend went to the justices of the peace and tied the knot so to speak!!

That was quite a few years ago now!

I really am Happy for you and your family! Kids they do the darnest things!! LOL

As long as they love each other, it will all work out :)

Don't wear yourself out, but have fun. I'm hoping my son survives to get married-he was outside playing soccer with another boy during a thunderstorm. He said they were counting the time between lightning and thunder. Darwin-Survival of the Fittest.

You'll have to keep us up to date. Vows is a great store. I bet if you googled you could find a similar place hopefully within a few hrs of where you live.

Hey Chart:

Congrats to Jazzie this is good news! Now I know that you're stressing already, but take a big breath and let it out and all will be fine. Glad you talked her out of the JP, she'll be happy about having a small wedding.

When I got married 29 years ago, my Mom was dirt poor and couldn't afford a wedding for me. We planned on getting married at the JP and then once we saved enough money we'd have a wedding. Well, that didn't go over to well with the In-laws and their religious beliefs. They were worried if I got pregnant and then wearing a wedding gown etc. I wasn't willing to wait until we could afford a wedding, so we went ahead and had a very small wedding.

All of my friends and family chipped in to help me. A friend from HS played the piano and sang with my sister. We (Mom, Sister, Brother, hubby) made all the food to serve. Brother in law married us, Mom's best friend bought my wedding cake, sister in law Mother made 200 cookies and home made candy. Best friend paid for all the flowers to be made. A HS friend did our photos, I'd say that was the one thing I'd do over. I'd want a professional photographer. She missed that my dress strings were showing in my pictures. A dear friend of my fathers (my parents were divorced) loaned me the money for a wedding gown and invitations. We had about 80 people attend.

It all worked out great and like I said we've been married 29 years now. I like you have an only child and it's a girl and I want to give her a biggest beautiful wedding I could possibly have, and she doesn't want to even date anyone, let alone get married. Then hubby is like I'll give her money to elope to Vegas if she ever wants to marry. LOL see how different families can be, my parents are no longer alive and hubby's family may or may not come, she's not really close to them.

I know you've been having a really rough time of it. So please promise me that you'll take it really easy and rest. Don't get to stressed out over things, everything will go just as it's meant to be sweetie. I know AuntKay's daughter got her wedding gown at Joseph's Bridal and it was VERY reasonable and beautiful. Do you do Facebook? If you do are you friends with AuntKay? If you're not and you would like to become friends with her on FB, my email is listed in my profile. Email me and I'll get the two of you hooked up and you can go and see Aleece's gown.

Again, I think this is great news and as long as they are in love and happy, as long as all the special people in their lives are there, that's all that really matters Chart. You take care and I'll be praying that everything falls into place for quickly and smoothly.

Hugs,
Barbara

Chart congrats on your daughters news. Did you all know she was planning on getting married to this fella or was this a surprise too? If any of the family members start running off at the mouth, remind them this is her day not theirs & it is their decision. If they cannot be civil about this tell them to stay home. Sure a lot of people want all the bells & whistles, but ultimately it is the couple's day & their choice.

Oh how exciting this must be for you. My daughter got married without even telling me about it until it was over. Originally they had planned to wait until I could fly down so I could attend but they jumped the gun and did it without me. I was so sad that I wasn't able to be there for her big day. My son and his fiance have been together for 6 years and I know that I will be there for their wedding so that will be very special.

It will be wonderful no matter how they choose to do it and I wish them all the luck in the world. Keep us posted on how everything goes. Congratulations to you and to them.

Gosh New problem is his father, he keep changing his mind and it has my daughter frustrated. He says Jasmine is coming between him and his son. I totally do not understand my daughter is a good young lady, what is his problem, Now I'm afraid for my daughter for something I should be getting happy about.
I have a huge headache...gonna take a tylenol and hope things turn out good.

Sounds like daddy does not want to be believe his little boy is now a young man, he will get over it. Let the future SIL deal with his father & try not to worry about it.

His Father is divorced...so he probably hates all women, as it kind of sounds like that's what's happening. Plus the son is not close to his mother, but my daughter likes him, so I' m trying to be the adult here and well, I just think my daughter needs help.
Some of what you said Straydog/ is also very true, but my daughter is stuck in the middle. I hope his father backs off and grows up, soon.
But, I think we'll try to get up to her in a couple of weeks...
