Hi all: I am new here but it sound like a place I need to be. I was injured in a severe car accident when I was 20 . I friend of mine who is a bit older had come back from Viet Nam and he wanted to know if we could go out to eat and catch up.
We were friends before he went. We were on the way home, and all of a sudden he got this weird look on his face and was staring straight out the windshild of the car. I didn't know it at the time, but he was having a flashback and thought he was seeing the enemy out through the windshield.
He reacted by pressing on the gas pedal as hard as he could. I was horrified and started screaming at him to slow down. It wasn't long and we were up to about
90 mpg, and he lost control and we left the road and struck this mans house at 90 mpg. He broke his Jaw Bone, and fell over into my lap. I had hit the dash with my right leg and somehow my left got up under the seat, and when we flipped back, my left ankle was turned all the way pointing backwards.
To make a long story shorter he broke his Jaw and was okay in about
six weeks. I broke both legs was in traction for 172 days the first visit, and then placed in a body cast for weeks and weeks. I was about
20 years old.
I started to have to have one surgery after the other and I have had about
30 or so now. I am now 62. I finally was given the option of having my left leg amputated so I did in 1995. One of the surgeries I had which was not because of the wreck was I had to have several plates put in my neck. That was about
10 years or so ago. I also have had bot shoulders repaired because of a rotator Cuff repair.
What I am experiencing now is horrific pain in my right elbow. Could this be coming from where the plates were put in or could it be from my right shoulder surgery. I have been going to a Pain Clinic for about
10 years now and they did some xrays and they talked about
some kind of narrowing but I really did not understand what they meant.
They want to do some kind of trigger point injections. Do they hurt? Will one of those TENS machines give me any relief whatsoever from the pain in my elbow I am in such pain I almost need to cry but I am a man.
I have had both shoulders repaired, surgery to take bone from both hips to go in my foot before they amputated it. I also have COPD and I am on Oxygen 2lpm . I also hurt in my back. I feel like my whole life was ruined by that Flash Back that guy had although I know he could not help it. What should I do. I cannot take this pain much longer. I take Methadone 20 mg every 8 hours per day, Lortab 7.5 3 times a day, Xanax 2 times aday, and in all about
20 different medications but I am used to them all.
Anyone else had this issue with the back and the elbow Pain. The only thing about
it I have developed tolerance to almost everything now. Good to meet you all everyone.
