Asking this because I'm trying to figure out if symptoms are worsening or if its just the Gabapentin. Does anyone else experience an extreme fog and sleepiness after it should be worn off? I'm only on 300 mg, but I also take Pristiq(50mg) and Topamax (100mg). I skipped my Topamax last night to take the Gabapentin because I don't like the feeling of the room spinning. This is the second time I've taken it at night, first time I slept great, last night hardly any sleep between my back, legs and arm stomach cramping up real bad. This morning admittedly the pain is less than it has been but not sure if its in comparison to yesterday and the storm now having passed, but I have the wirls something fierce today and so dang tired.

Some people do complain of brain fog when taking Gabapentin on larger doses. You may want to go to Drugs.com & look up the side effects of all these meds you are taking as well as possible interactions of any of these meds taken together.

Good luck.

Hi Sunny, I'm one of those that never grew use to my brain being in a perpetual hangover mode with neurontin! I trying tired lower and higher, change room times and n nothing helped. Finally switched to lyrica and didn't do that.

If Its bothering you that much I would let the Dr know and see if trying one of the others is an option.

I know that the other two meds while will interact with it won't do anything harmful, just increase the weird feeling, I just didn't expect to feel like that all day. Honestly it hasn't helped enough with the pain to deal with this, and it was given as a last chance to get some sleep. I know at the moment I'm not going to be given anything else until my next appointment.

Gabapentin is one of those meds that has to be increased to get to the therapeutic dose. My husband is on 1800mg a day for diabetic neuropathy. It can be dosed higher than what he is on.

As Vickie suggested, perhaps the dr can try you on Lyrica. Good luck.

……this is a side effect of most all the meds being used for nerve damage, but may subside after a few weeks to several months. Also, coming off of them can cause a few side effects as well, one being what some refer to as "Brain Zaps" I have experienced both.

Maybe a visit with your doctor and let them know that you are struggling.

Good Luck!
