If you have back pain, failed back surgery, and many of the conditions of people here in the CP forum, this article explains possible reasons for these conditions. It's long and technical. Parts of it are understandable and parts not, for the readers of this forum.

While the title is Arachnoiditis, a very long list of conditions are discussed, many as causes of this condition. Everything from misdiagnosed carpal tunnel to MS, preservatives in spinal injections, gastroparesis, cold extremities and much more will be of interest to many CP readers.

"One of the principal problems arachnoiditis sufferers experience is the dismissal of their
symptoms as psychosomatic."

I think the link should work now. Not sure why the link wasn't opening for everyone. Copy and paste works.

The parts about treatment for the conditions is particularly useful for us in the forum.

Alcie,
You did it! Don't feel alone, my links fail more often than not. Very interesting article too. I clicked on it because my wife has once been bitten by a brown recluse spider and still suffers bouts of necrosis 22 years later. Even though it wasn't about that it was a fascinating read, thanks . . . Q

Hi alcie, Im new but have arachnoiditis & truly when i read one of your posts & symptoms, surgeries & that you were getting a myelogram again i wanted to reach through cyberspace & say " please dont!". I had fbss as my diagnosis for years before being correctly diagnosed by the NS, because i have clumped nerve roots on MRI it was diagnostic. The best article, inclusive & pretty exhaustive on the subject is The Adhesive Arachnoiditis Syndrome by Dr Sarah Andrae Smith Jones. I hope that you do not have arach!
Oh i just got link to work and its another article by same author Dr Sarah andrae Smith Jones! The article i suggested is 200+ pages but the most informative. She is an arach patient as well.

Thanks, mckaren.

Here's the link to her web page. www.cofwa.org/Arachnoiditis.htm
It's much less technical for our readers here.

I don't know if I have arachnoiditis, but it seems from the articles not so different from my diagnosis of central cord syndrome and central pain syndrome. The conditions I have are also not curable or even very treatable and the pain is intolerable.

Maybe the myelogram will show what's going on, although the radiologist's report didn't have anything to say about it. I have a wait for my neurosurgeon because he's left the hospital, although he promised to review the study.

Maybe you could post the link to the longer page. Use the post reply, not the quick reply.
