I am not sure where to even begin-
I had a Medtronic Neurostimulator Trial implanted on the outside of my body on Thursday 10/30/14. I was told that my surgeon had some spinal fluid leakage from the initial lead install so I would need to be flat on my back for a full 24 hrs after I went home.
I was in recovery and I started to have horrible pain in my left leg about
every 90 seconds for about
an additional 90 seconds. The anesthesiologist was there and saw everything. This went on for about
30 minutes. The anesthesiologist then just walked away without saying anything. I was extremely groggy from what I learned later was too much anesthesia. I was released to go home about
30 mins later to go home with supervision for the next 24 hrs and on total bed rest in case of a spinal headache.
I didn't have any headache issues but over the course of the weekend I could not get the neurostim unit to work consistently. I would either feel it working mildly or it would completely stop for no reason or I would get a horrible shock that almost knocked me off of my feet. I disconnected my neurostim control box on Sunday Nov 3 I had a follow up appointment with the surgeon that put in the neurostim at 8:30 am and I told him I wanted the unit completely removed immediately because it hurt me more than helped me.
I have been on Fentynal patches since late November 2014 and was on 12 mcg, then 25 mcg and now on 50 mcg patches every 72 hrs for approxately 4 months now. I have been on Norco 5-325 since October 2013 and then increased to 10-325 when Neurostim unit was installed.
I have since been taken off of the Norco completely by another doctor in the same office that my surgeon handed me over to and only have the fentynal 50 mcg every 72 hours and I have such nerve pain in my left leg I can hardly handle it!! This different doctor has also prescribed me Grelise a timed release form of gabapentin but my insurance will not pay for this and the doctors office is appealing the insurance companies decision. I am having spasms all over my lower body now and I don't know what to do now.
