Are you having anal manometry? I'm confused. The anorectal manometry measures the muscle strength and sphincter coordination and stuff like that.
You will be on your side on the bed, and they will have sensors and stuff on and in you. It is NOT painful at all. The doc or whoever does it will ask you to squeeze various muscles, and will give you clues as to what to do, like they might say "squeeze your muscles as if holding in a bm" and stuff like that.
For me, it was not painful or scary. Maybe a bit awkward for me, as that was really the first thing I had done after just sitting and talking w/ a doctor!
If this is the procedure you are having, then I hope this helps. Any other questions, I will answer to the best of my ability!
Good luck, hope you get some answers so that you can start having much less pain!
