We don't always have things to get excited about around here. I have had a cruise to Key West and the Bahamas booked for months. I knew the risk I was taking booking for September but we really haven't had much lately. I NEED this vacation. So looking forward to seeing Key West. We are set to sail on Sunday the 10th. Not looking to good as of now. If it stays out of the gulf they probably will change the ports of call. Key West is the main one I want to visit. I sure hope it makes a turn up north for my vacation sake but mainly because the US does not need another landfall. I am currently making a plan b though. Thinking a drive up to see the ARK in Kentucky may be nice. Any thoughts?

Oh so excited for you. I do hope you get to do the cruise. However, Ky is a pretty state. The only problem I see with driving is some areas finding gas is a problem. I am in Tx north of the coast but we are having issues finding gas. We have a weekend place about 30 miles from Waco & finding gas is a challenge down here over the holiday weekend.

We are taking a short vacation on the 15th with 3 other couples. We are going to Lake Quachita, Ark.. We have rented a 4 bedroom houseboat. They take us out & tie us up then come back for us. We have gone there for several years back in our rv days. We use to ride over to this place & drool over those houseboats. So this one of our bucket list things. We are taking our water toys so we can go cruising around. We are all excited.

Keep us posted on what you decide.

I would love to rent a houseboat too. I have looked into that in Tennessee. Irma is not letting up on Florida. My dream of seeing Key West may be just that, once again. I have been to Cozemel so I hope they don't change our trip to there. I told my husband that going to see the ARK is looking like a plan.

I do believe Florida will be out of question. I have been to many resorts in Mexico & liked Cozamel the least. We always used the same travel agent for years so he booked us at a 5 star resort called the Paradisus. What a joke, swim up bar & other pool closed the entire time we were there. Our rooms had mold on the walls,

I do believe Florida will be out of question. I have been to many resorts in Mexico & liked Cozamel the least. We always used the same travel agent for years so he booked us at a 5 star resort called the Paradisius. What a joke, swim up bar & other pool closed the entire time we were there. Our rooms had mold on the walls & the lamps were direct wired into the plug ins. How it kept from burning down is beyond me. This was an all-inclusive package. It was an expernive trip since we did use what we paid for, everything we did was out of pocket. We went to a public beach every day & ate every meal out. The public park for snorkeling was so packed with people you could not get in the water. We rented a jeep for a week & we would go out scouting for beaches & restaurants with bars, lol. We found some wonderful out of the way places. Two great things came out of that trip. We ate lobster at a place called the Lobster House. It was in an old house all screened in, had mosquito coils setting out, lol. You picked your lobster out of a tank & the lady cooked. I have never had lobster that tasted like that, it was wonderful. The beans & rice was out of this world. Apparently, the lobster house is a highlight there & I think we made reservations. The second thing was we rode the ferry over to Playa Del Carmen. This is before it was really discovered. Absolutely the most beautiful place in Mexico, the beaches & water are incredible. We started going to Playa every 6 months after that. We never used the tours at the resorts, too over priced. If we wanted to snorkel we went in town to the dive shop & they would hook us up. Akumal is another fantastic place. It is known for its diving, people come from everywhere to dive there. We rented a villa there that was wonderful. All the other places I have been to were great except Cozamel. Now, with the drug problems & tainted alcohol no way I would ever go back.

I hope you come up with a good plan for your trip.

We had a great time. Not much for Ocho Rios Jamaica. Didn't feel real safe there. Grand Caymans were amazing. We had 17 ft seas as soon as we hit the gulf. That was pretty rocky. The only problem I had was standing in the line to board. My back and leg started given me fits. Other than that I did pretty good. The trip was great.

Grand Caymans are very safe. It is a small island with hardly no crime although there are 600 banks. The beaches are the prettiest I have ever seen. I would love to go and stay for a week on seven mile beach. The people are very nice too.
