I am curious to know if anyone has tried essential oils for chronic pain and inflammation?

I have not.

One caution...if you have cats...they are extremely sensitive to essential oils and quite a few are TOXIC to them. They don't even have to ingest them to be effected by them. Research whatever you are thinking of using! Cats are dying from their owners using infusers and bath oils and such.

I don’t have cats. I do have a dog. I have researched the toxic ones. I have found one that seems to be helping. I also am using a company that is 100% pure. No synthetics. It’s interesting.

I was rushed this morning and went back and read my previous post. It sounded way colder than intended. Just to be clear. I was warned about them being harmful to pets so I had to be sure that I didn't use any around my dog I have had since 2006. Also, we have to introduce them slowly. One at a time to be sure we do not notice anything strange with him. So far he his doing fine but I only diffuse lavender around him. I have found a combo that seems to be helping with my pain a little. I can't say a lot as I am scheduled for surgery in the morning. I think it will take a while before I will know if they work for my chronic pain. Have to get past this. Again, I am sorry for rushing through my reply. I was heading out the door to work.

Hope you have a successful surgery and a strong recovery!

I am also looking for things to help with chronic pain and relaxation. Anything that will bring any relief!

That being said, I don't want to be so focused on my own issues that I should harm my pets in any way. Our vet told me that they have been seeing such an increase in sick animals with the essential oil usage because there are no warnings on them about these possibilities. I'm really glad you brought the topic up, as it gives us a way to spread the caution.

B, I do hope that you have a very successful surgery & this is the final one.Wow, you are a trooper no doubt, your surgeries seem to run in multiples.

As for essential oils, my sister is a masseuse & she does so much research on things. She is a big believer in essential oils used as an analgesic. She found a product called Pour Some On, I believe is the correct name. I will make an effect to verify this. It is nothing but various oils. She sent me a bottle, its chinese & the bottle comes in a pink tin with chinese writing. The insert is in chinese & English. It really did make my muscles feel better & it does heat up once rubbed in, in fact the instructions say not to use it with a heating pad. I understand why. It is available on Amazon. I have such horrible allergies that I cannot use a plug in or scented candles.

Take care.
