I have struggled with chronic pain for the past 4 years as a result of a pinched nerve in my neck. I have had constant muscle spasms ever since. I have tried many different things including acupuncture, chiropractor, acupuncture, therapy, epidural injection, cortisone injection, working out, diet changes etc. I have gotten into a tricky cycle where I can't tell if my pain is causing anxiety, or if anxiety is causing pain. With that being said my mom has recommended that I give hypnosis a try.

I was just wondering if anyone has ever tried hypnosis for pain due to muscle spasms and if they had any luck?

Hello Doodle, I have not seen any posts here over the years of anyone trying hypnosis to alleviate their pain. However, I have done hypnosis for other situations & can tell you it was great for stress. I don't think I have ever been so relaxed in all of my life. I would say give it a try & see what you think. If you are having some anxiety I would try it to see what happens. If you can get nice & relaxed perhaps that will help with the muscle spasms. I urge you to seek out a very well experienced person with a lot of years of experience. The lady I used was often hired by insurance companies to come in & do stress relief for their employees at various times. I can see why I know how well I felt.

Take care.

Hi Susie,

Thank you for your response! That's really helpful-- I think if I could get my anxiety and stress around my pain under control I could see an improvement with the muscle spasms. Fingers crossed!

Doodle, there is a definite connection with the anxiety & stress affecting the body in a negative way. Either of the two will cause the muscles in our body to tense up. If you decide to try hypnosis please let us know what you think of it.
