How long ago was the MRI of the lumbar spine? Was it done with contrast or without?
I didn't get them all the way down into my foot (although I've had those). Mine would run the length of my quads on the outside and stop at the knee. So, although it wasn't sciatica, it was another nerve being 'pinched'. It would come and go, without any apparent reason, so scheduling a test was rather 'iffy'. Then came the day when it was nearly every day and so strong I couldn't breathe! Bingo! The MRI showed a herniated disc pressing on the nerve.
Most of the time, placing ice on the 'small of my back' would calm it down...until that stopped working. I ended up going for a series of epidural and facet joint injections.
Hope you find out what's causing yours and if the ice doesn't help, give the injections a try!
