I wasn't sure where else in the forum to post this, not sure I'd consider it to be "chronic pain." Anyway, I'm 31 years old, I'm overweight and struggle with depression, and I seem to have bouts of lower back pain and sciatica (pain shooting down the front of my thighs). Honestly, I believe it's due to being sedentary. Say, I'm having a low day and spend it in bed or on the couch, my lower back in particular starts to ache terribly, and then I really can't move. It's a vicious cycle.
I've been to physical therapy, twice, but I'm that patient that graduates from it and never does the exercises again. Tell me I'm not the only one.... I've been given steriod packs before, and I've even had injections in that part of the spine... Xray showed no issue with the spine. But it's back and I'm not sure I want to go that route again.
Last night I bought Aspercreme with Lidocaine and WOW it's very effective! But I fear it's only masking the pain and not addressing the problem. I guess What I'm asking here is .. has anyone had a similar issue? Depression causes sedentary lifestyle, which causes back pain?
I've tried to work out a little bit, walking on treadmill, but again, with depression, it's hard to get the motivation to do it. And, honestly, It hurts. We had a huge snow fall 2 days ago, and yesterday we had to shovel... that absolutely aggravated it which lead me to get the cream..
Any tips? I'll be seeing my Dr. in 2 weeks for a different issue, and I'm trying to avoid having to go the steriod/PT route again.
