I guess we all get to the stage when our quality of life is so greatly effected by pain that throwing in the towel seems the only option.

I got the stinking Thinking happening. Too many things compounding me, medically. The turtle is whinging. The turtle is tired. I know this process and phase. Just need some reflective listening.

Thx. HT

I can relate and hear you theHTreturns. I want to say the right thing but don’t know what it is. It’s so draining being in chronic pain and wears out the soul some days.

I care and I hope you have better days coming. <3

Hi theHTreturns...,
I sure agree that some days things truly seem hopeless and you are totally drained. Those days are ones where you might try connecting with someone or come online and post/read more.

I do understand what you are saying. When my oldest son was 23 he 'threw in the towel' as you say. He apparently had depression that he hid well.. He was always cheerful and loving with no external emotions that indicated what he was going through. Slowly most of the disorders listed in my sig line below began to surface. I felt I could get through it on my own. My doctor offered help of all kinds but I declined thinking I could just will myself better. That was 18 years ago and just recently I volunteered to participate in a small women's group who also suffer from depression. I didn't really want to go but I made myself do it because I knew medications weren't helping much and I had to do something.

I'm so very glad I'm going to this group once a week. I really didn't think this would help much but once I was there I saw how wrong I was. Not only listening to others who have issues like mine, I found I was able to say things that helped someone else. I really like that last part.

Just some thoughts for you. Please know I care about you! We don't know each other personally but I feel like was are all kindred spirits here. We 'get it' like no one else can.

Warmly,
Chutz

Some days, all I can accomplish is breathing. Even that becomes uncomfortable. If not for my dog.....
multiple surgeries for rotator cuff both shoulders with residual chronic impingement syndrome, ulnar nerve transposition, carpal tunnel release, multiple wrist surgeries, multiple herniated discs, tarlov cysts, whiplash, bursitis of hips, grade 5 right shoulder separation and torn labrum, ovarian cysts, fibroid tumors of the uterus

HT, I am sorry to hear that you are having such a tough time. When you feel that low please remember you have felt that way before...and had better times that followed. The 'stinking' thinking cannot win. It is great that you recognize it.

Chutz...I hate to ask. Did your son get through his depression? I am so sorry for you. Having our kids in pain is a zillion times worse than experiencing it ourselves.
