Hey there im new to the site. I have cerebral pulsy and chronic pain. I was just wondering if anyone is in a similar position to me where the doctors /specialists have said that they can't do nothing for you and you just have to deal with it. I also have depression because of this. My pain is in my hip and my lower back. Also has anyone had a surgeon telling you that they could operate but they don't want to because it might leave youin more pain than you are in now
I would love to chat to some people who are in a similar situation as me
Thanks
Katie

Hi Wales, welcome to the forum. I really can't answer question about cerebral palsy. I had a cousin that had it & as an adult she did fairly well considering it all.

You spoke about hip & back pain. What type of tests have you had & what were the results? What type of drs have you seen too? Sorry for so many questions, just trying to get a better picture of your situation.

Depending on what your testing has shown as far as a need for surgery, a good surgeon should be honest with a patient about the possible outcome. There are plenty of stories in this forum of people having surgery & they did not get the result they hoped for. What kind of self treatments are you trying?

Pain & depression often go hand in hand. Have you discussed with your dr about your depression, if not you need to.

Take care.

Have you seen a Pain
Management Doctor?. Few primary care doctors treat chronic severe pain now days. Sometimes it takes seeing several Pain Management Doctors before you find one that is right for you. How old are you? Doctors are less inclined to prescribe opiates to younger patients long term.

I don't have cp but I do have chronic back pain. I've found a t.e.n.s. unit to be helpful and wonder if you've explored this device? I also have depression and at one point tried Cymbalta to treat it, with the hope that it would also help with pain, as it does for some people. Just another possibility for you to look into. Welcome to the forum, sorry you have to look for us.
