Hi. Looking for insights from others familiar with neuropathy following radiation therapy for bone mets. I had proton radiation on rib 7 adjacent to my spine the first week of September. The initial pain following radiation was quite severe and has gone through many ups and downs and variations since. Current pain level hits between 6 and 8 most days. I can characterize the pain as 1) bone pain at the site of the treatment, feels like I was whacked with a baseball bat; 2) neurological pain radiating from the treatment site, migrating to a new nexus in my sternum, very sharp shooting pains, left chest feels sunburnt, tingling and sensitive to touch; 3) intense muscle pain around left scapula and upper back. My treatment is 1800 mg gabapentin (600,600,600) and 200 mg Celebrex, heat pad for back, lidocaine cream for burning/tingling. This is 3 months out now. I had a 3T MRI and a CT neither indicate a break or an obvious cause. Initially, it was treated as something that would resolve soon. Soon has passed. I don’t really have a specific diagnosis, other than it’s an artifact of the treatment. This met was found via scans, I was 100% pain free prior to radiation. Any thoughts on other treatment options? B12? L-Carnatine supplements? Thanks in advance!
