Hi Everyone!
I'm 4 weeks Post op yesterday. However, my weight limit was 20 lbs an over the weekend I couldn't help myself and held a baby he was maybe 22-25 lbs. I'm still sore and able to work my office manager job for about 6 to 7 hours a day before I've pushed so hard I need to drive home. I feel like I should be back to normal now. Like I should be able to work 40 hours a week and do my weekend stuff and after work stuff. I'm having pain now in the front of my throat since lifting over the weekend and it isn't getting a whole lot better it seems. I also feel like I've gotten a lump in my throat and only take my pain meds and muscle relaxers at night. Anyone else feel like they aren't getting better as fast as they'd like? I am a 40 year old female and considered "morbidly" obese. I'm also diabetic. Anyone with similar experiences would so help!

Everyone heals differently, I am assuming because you work in an office this is why the dr released you to return to work. Most individuals with a one level fusion are off work 6 weeks to allow for better healing, not just on the outside, but on the inside too. This also depends on their type of employment.

Pushing yourself & not listening to your dr can cause setbacks such as this. Use some cold packs on your throat area, this should help. It takes a lot of patience to heal from surgery.

Take care.

Thanks for the response it was only 1 level, I was released at 2 weeks half days. The disc was bulging 3 mm before surgery which the surgeon said was quite a bit. I also have a 9mm lower back waiting to be fixed atlfter weight loss I just feel like 4 weeks out I should be able to work more than 7 hours 😞

Patience & above all listen to your body. Your body will let you know when you are doing too much.

Thank you Susie! I appreciate your input. Patience unfortunately is something I'm having to learn. I am now starting to take a 2mg muscle relaxer to see if it helps with the pain throughout the day. I will try the ice pack this afternoon when I am off of work.
