Greetings,

I have been involved with PM Dr's for over 4 years and tried lots of meds, currenly taking morphine as the prescribed remedy for my pain. I started on small time released doses, then added Imm. Rel. to the scene. my doses have spiraled to some very high numbers now and I just don't get much help from all I take. I have tried very hard to stagger the doses or anything that might help my pain. I am going to the Pain Management Dr. soon and don't now what other options are out there. Also taking Lyrica but feel no difference from it too. I am a Crohn's paitiant in somewhat of a remissiion and have lots of missing parts inside, please advise.

P.S. tried the Fetynl patch with mixed results

Crohnie - has your pain doctor taken into consideration that some of your pills might not be getting properly digested with all the missing parts? A time released pill obviously isn't going to work as well if it goes through you a lot quicker than an average person. For example - due to my recent gastric bypass I cannot take any pill whole for a long time, and was told that my vitamins will always have to be chewable or they will not get into my system properly. People with Crohns have differnt amounts of insides missing and that could be your problem. You may want to see about something that could be dissolved under your tongue, gotten in liquid form, or something that wouldn't be dangerous to crush.

Whatever you do - do NOT crush, cut or in any way mess wth your morphine pill - since it's time released doing so could cause you to overdose very quickly and possibly kill you. (I'm just adding this in case you didn't know already)

I jsut tried changing to Kadian 60mg x 2 a day, wow was that a mistake, I was bedridden for both days, I gave in to my old meds (morphine), not sure what happened with the Kadian, I thought is was Morphine too, I called my Dr. to get some answers, have to wait and see. Feeling frustrated now.

Greetings,

I like to update on my situation, I tried to change from morphine imm rel & morphine sustained rel to Kadian the results were far from what I had expected. I felt as if I just stopped all my meds cold turkey. unfortunatly I had to make a trip to the Dr's office to get refills for the Morphine again, what a bummer. so here I am again feeling frustrated and confused. I feel that I keep going on higher and higher doses of the Morphine and live with this cycle of contant ups and downs hour to hour. I wish I could stop letting the meds rule my life, it seems as if all I do is think about the pain and if I will run out of the morphine. I am not a druggie as I never took meds to feel high, only to get releif from pain. seems as if everyone makes me feel as if I am doing something dishonest. Not true, any advice?

What is your dosage and how often are you taking them? I am taking oxymorphone both ER and IR......I take the ER tablets at 1 am and 1 pm and then take the IR every 8 hours usually winds up 4 hours after I take the ER tablets and it seems to work okay......
for now anyway.
