Last year before my DX there were a few nights when I went to bed with a fever and woke up with my fever gone and completely soaked in sweat, not kidding, my bed looked like I had dumped a glass of water on it, you could even see where my legs were. It was as if every pore on my body just gushed out sweat. That hadn't happened in over a year when all of a sudden it has started happening again only this time I haven't been having a fever, and I am waking up 4-5 times a night with my hair and night shirt soaked and sweat dripping from behind my knees and elbows. I am not hot, actually I am usually cold. Is this a symptom of Crohns? I am breast feeding my three month old son and quit taking my Asacol in July. I have started having symptoms of a flare for the past 4-5 weeks but am trying to avoid the Dr. and meds.
anyone else ever have this happen?  what do you do?

I have been told that night sweats can be from hormones, but also from the Crhon's itself. I don't always have a fever when I have the sweats. I also get them from Prednisone, but it doesn't sound like you are on that. See if it is safe to go back on the Asacol and breast feed. It's hard enough having an infant--you don't need the flare too. Congrats on your new baby!

For a while I was having similar night sweats. I asked my OBGYN about it and she prescribed a birth control pill (Yasmin) that put my hormones on track and limited my night sweats. I typically only get them the first night on my period, or not at all. I don't know if it's also from Crohn's but my night sweats started when I was most sick, so who knows :P I would definitely see about getting your hormone levels checked.

ps. Congrats! :D

This exact thing happens to me a lot. For about 2 months, it was every night that i woke up soaked and freezing, shaking, with a low fever. It is a symptom of Crohn's. Only thing to do is wait it out, I guess. Good luck, I was just put on Ambien a month ago so that's the only way I sleep through it now.
Pentasa 500mg/8x daily; Entocort 3mg/3x daily; Percocet/Ultram for pain; Protonix 40mg

Ferrous Sulfate 325mg/daily for anemia
Azathioprine 150mg

Currently on a Low-residue diet as of 11/26

Thank guys, I am not sure about the hormones, My son is almost 12 weeks old and I am nursing so I guess there is some hormone stuff going on. I knew that after he was born there was a chance of having a flare due to the sudden change in hormones, I started feeling sick again a few weeks ago. The Asacol website says to take the Asacol while nursing if the benefits outweight the risks, but it doesn't say what the potential risks are, so I feel that as long as I am able to get out of bed in the morning and stay out of bed during the day to take care of him and not be totally miserable I would rather stay off of any meds for as long as possible.
I want to avoid birth control pills because I know that the hormones can affect the crohns and possibly coincidentally my first major flare started about 2 months after going off of birth control in the first place.
I have seen some information on some Crohns patient getting some relief with coconut water, I have looked into it a little bit and it's fairly expensive. Have any of you heard good or bad about it, or better yet tried it yourself?
