I've been off of prednisone now for 2 months and I sitll have a swollen face aka moon face. Does anyone know how long it takes for the swelling to go down? And, does anyone know ways to speed up the process of getting rid of the swelling? It's kinda driving me nuts. Thanks so much.

Female, 30. Diagnosed August 2007 with Crohn's Colitis. Asacol 400 mg 12 x day. Canasa, Cortifoam, just finished Prednisone (tapered from 60 mg). Orthotricyclin Lo, Calcium, Trinity (probiotics), and multivitamin.

I recall how upset I was when I developed the moonface. I simply could not look at myself in the mirror. As to your question - my face went down gradually over about 6-8 weeks after getting off of the steroids. I'm surprised that you have not seen any signs that it is returning to pre-prednisone shape. I personally don't know of anything that will make it go away faster but perhaps someone else will come along with a suggestion.

Mine too was gone within about 6-8 weeks also. I can always remember how it looks as I had to take my passport photo while on Pred. Yuck! I think maybe drinking more water might help. Just a thought! Good luck!

It took about three months for mine to go away.
