Hi everyone
I posted about 3 weeks ago when I found out I was pregnant. So far...still am. My Crohns has not been too bad. I was put on Salofalk to start off. Last week I got some flu bug and was very sick for about 4 days. Now, I have no appetite at all through out the day. All I seem to eat is fruit. I'm concerned that this isn't going to be good for the baby (I am in my 7th week of pregnancy). Any ideas or suggestions? I am visiting my doctor again tomorrow to talk about possible Remicade infusion. He does not recommend it but I can do it, if I am concerned. How can the baby grow if I am not eating???

Hi, I am not an expert but have had two children. I believe that by not eating you are hurting yourself more than your baby. The baby takes what it needs from you, but my understanding is that if you are not putting anything in then it will take what it needs from you, and if you are eating anything the nutrition goes first to the baby and then to you. I hope that you are on a good pre natal vitamin. Also consider drinking ensure or boost. This will provide calories and if you can gulp it down (I can do it w/ one or two long drinks) it isn't too bad.  Congrats on your preg. and I hope that both you and the baby will be healthy.
Living with Crohns for 1 year. I have a wonderful husband and two beautiful little girls.
One blessing that came with my Crohns: I thank God for each day that I can get out of bed and take care of my girls and my home.

Hi justnerves. I am just a week ahead of you in my pregnancy. I do have less appetite too, but find I will eat (and sometimes want to eat) if I smell good food. I keep eating even if I am not hungry. I'll eat toast and juice at least in the morning or dry cereal. I'll also drink a boost. I'm less likely to eat a real lunch, but once my husband starts eating dinner, I often decide I want some.

At least you are eating fruit, not a lot of calories, but you are getting many vitamins. I'm the opposite, fruits and veggies are non starters with me. I can get peaches or magos down in a smoothy or drink juice, but that is about it.

Also, a lot of women have no appetite in the first trimester. All of my books say not to worry about it. It could be the pregnancy and not CD causing that.

Currently in remission!
