Hello everyone,

I'm sure that you have heard this a thousand times before, but it is my first time on a message board like this. I did a course of steroid treatment before returning to my normal medication, Pentasa, and I gained about 30 lbs. I had done a good job maintaining my weight until that point... but then I just blew up! Having fatigue issues and chronic migraines, it is hard for me to get up and be super active. I do exercises in my home whenever I have the energy - about four times a week for 15 minutes. The weight just won't drop off again. It's incredibly frustrating for me. I am 24 years old in a few days, and I'm already wondering if my skin will even shrink back if I do manage to lose the weight! How embarrassing.

I am looking for any advice, personal experience, or support you have to offer. Thank you.

How can you be a cow when you are "meow"ese, wouldn't that make you a cat? LOL

Relax about the weight gain caused by pred, it's usually just temporary and once the pred is out of your system and you maintain a normal diet (not overeating which pred can cause as well usually leading to weightgain) the pounds will drop always drops off slower than it goes on, the nature of the beast I guess.

My bum is broken....there's a big crack down the middle of it!  LOL  :)

meowese, try not to let it get you in a funk. it will come off. some faster than others. all of a sudden you will look in the mirror and your face wont be puffy. the real lasting effect it had onme over the years was fat redistribution. it tends to make your arms and legs thin and the fat goes to the waist area. ugh! at your age your skin should bounce right back to shape. hang in there it gets better.

My Hubby always loses his weight quickly after the Pred, and then he ends up to thin and keeping weight on him is a problem.  Now I want more info on the chocolate diet.

I've gained 30 pounds this year with Prednisone, too! I've been off for a week and a half now, and I don't notice a difference yet. I'm having big troubles with my Imuran making me queasy, though, so I'm hoping that I'll lose some weight that way! lol :) Problem is, I feel too sick to exercise. I finally just decided that I don't care how fat I look now, that will just make me look that much better when I lose the weight later (whenever that is) :) Good luck! If you want a diet buddy, let me know!

MOOOOO! So do I.
We should do a commercial, "Got Prednisone" with a cow standing next to us. I gained 20 this year and still have active CD.
